My babies umbilical cord just fell off five minutes ago. No bleeding, puss, or anything like that at all.?
I cleaned it really well with alcohol and she did not scream or anything. The area is slightly red, but looks fine to me. I would assume this means she is ok to bathe. Can I give her a bath now or should I wait?

YAY!!!! It is officially first bath time! Get the camera and have fun....just make sure the water is not too warm.

It sounds to me like you really did a great job of taking care of it while it was still attached. Good going!! Fill that baby tub and enjoy the experience! Better yet, if you have someone there that can hand the baby in and out to you, get in the big tub with her and relish in the giggles you will get from her and the close bonding the two of you can share together. P.S. don't forget to tape the cord onto a 5 x 7 card stating her birthdate and the date the cord fell off and put it in a zip-lock baggie for safe-keeping in her baby book or box. :-)

After my daughters umbilical cord fell off, it was still a little red. I was also wondering the same thing. I myself did wait two or three days, just to be safe!

i would wait. just give her a sponge bath. my baby's cord came off REAL soon but it was ok. wait a few days and then give ger a real bath. make sure to clean with alcohol daily to prevent infection. just becuz u see no pus or bleeding doesnt mean its fully healed. i went to the dr as soon as my baby's cord fell off just to make sure everything was ok. Good Luck :)

Congrats! Time for her first bath! My baby girl is 2 months old, hers fell off when she was a week and a half...she had no blood, puss, or anything either..the redness is normal, no worries! enjoy bath time! its a great 1st milestone!

Great job! Actually if it were me, I would probably wait until the redness was gone, but after that, bathe away!

I would wait a couple of days to give her a regular bath to be sure that it is healed all the way. I could leak for a nother couple of days.

ya its fine know thought your baby might have a hard time adjusting to this change my son first hated it but know at 3 months he smiles when he gets a bath and sometimes he baby talks.
