The ice maker on my side by side whirlpool refrigerator has stopped making ice.?

When we first hooked the refrigerator up, it was making cloudy ice. We stopped using it for a long time. We decided to try again but now it won't work. We've trouble-shooted everything in the manual to no avail. Could the line be frozen? The water dispenser still works.

The model (Whirlpool ED5HAX) is an energy efficient, side by side, with the water/ice dispenser in the door. Any thoughts?

if you have not used it in some time try taking a hairdryer and thawing out the moter to the ice maker , make sure you are getting water , undo fitting water fitting ti back of unit it has a small screen see if its clogged, after you thaw it give it a turn i could go on testing power to moter, timer voltage ,also drop the wire arm a few times , if you have water in the door its not frozen, good luck

It could be one of two things. It can be a problem with a part in the ice maker. In most cases you are better to replace the ice maker as an assembly since replacing individual parts in the ice maker can easily cost half of what a new ice maker runs. Or it can be a problem with the water inlet valve on the ice maker. This valve is located behind the refrigerator and controls the flow of water into the ice maker.

best thing to do is contact their technical department for advice. they will have technicians that specialise in fridge freezers who should be able to assist you. when you phone up, ensure you have any serial numbers, ENR and FD codes, which are usually on a sticker inside your fridge somewhere, often at the back near the bottom. they will be able to help you best. most ice makers need the water to be running through the pipes on a regular basis.

Our water line freezes up quite a bit and we have to get it thawed out. We also have to dig out chunks of ice from the maker itself at times.

I would definitely try turning down the temperature some, to see if it starts making ice.

Check water outlet where it comes into the tray. It is probably frozen
