Alexander the Great?

When the mother of the King of Persia mistook Hephaistion for Alexander what did Alexander mean when he said 'he too is Alexander'?

    Hephaistion was a very close friend to Alexander. They grew up like brothers and knew each very well. Hephaistion knew how Alexander used to think, how he felt, what he feared, what he desired and to that extend he was an Alexander too. Alexander himself had told that he trusted him with his life.

    Possibly he meant that the army and all its officers were a part of a polity of Macedonians and thus merely an extension of himself. This is further highlighted later on when the army rebelled against going further into India and he was hurt by that.
