The curse of A-rod: can the Yankees (or any team in MLB) win a championship with A-rod on board?
The problem with the pitching is THIS season. A-rod has never won anything.
Sabes99- He did play in a championship team, in his first year with the Yankess.
P.S. Look at the payroll of the team that defeated the Yankees in that WS. You will be amazed.
Sabes99 You are right. A-rod moved to the Yankees in 2004 and they last went to the WS in 2003.
Nacnud:
As I said, A-rod is a Yankee since 2004.
Giambi is with the team since the 2002 season, Mussina at 2001 and Matsui in 2003.
So, Mussina has been to 2 WS and Matsui+Giambi to one. Not bad, even if they lost both.
All the other players you mentioned, probably by chance, arrived AFTER A-rod. Damon, Farn and Abreu in 2006. Cano in 2005.
Only thing this group has in common is been part of the death of the curse of the Bambino and the birth of the curse of A-rod and not even making the WS.
P.S. Giambi is a stand up guy in my book.

Suprsisingly, i don't think its gonna happen, The Yankees should get perrmission from A-Rod to trade him because so much attention is being put on him and wheter he does well or not.
The mistake occured when the Yankees first traded for A-Rod. When he came to town, Joe Torre should've seen that his arm was gonna be his week point. Look at all the Errors he's made a 3rd Base. When A-Rod first put on a Pinstriped Uniform, he should've ran right over to 2nd Base. But now the Yankees have All-Star Robinson Cano, and its too late to turn back now.
The Yankees and A-Rod are like Milk and Popcorn, they don't mix.

The curse of A-rod? How about the curse of Giambi, the curse of Mussina, the curse of Matsui, the curse of Abreu, Cano, Damon, Farnsworth? None of these guys have won with NY, so, using your logic, they're all cursed, right?
Wrong. "Curse theories" are for losers that don't understand the game.

I'm a HUGE Yankee fan, and I've booed him on several occations. I loved what he was doing in April this year, but I won't embrace him until he delivers in October, and wins a Chapionchip. The Yankees pitching isn't all that bad this year. The problem has been injuries. Wang was out, Moose was out, Pavano was out, and Phil Hughes got hurt. Pettite was the only one not to get hurt. With Clemens back in June and a healthy staff the yankees will have one of the best starting pitching in the league.

If A-Rod sticks around and accepts the 3-year option, i feel that the Yankees, either next year or in two, will win the World Series. Next year with Hughes, Wang, Mussina and Pettitte in the rotation and seemingly everybody in the offense under contract (minus abreu), they will be ready to win one again.

a-rod is not cursed, he just hasn't had his opportunity yet to play for a championship...the yankees have struggled in the playoffs the last couple years, the rangers never had a chance, and the mariners were good for a short window of time and never made it...some of the greatest athletes never win a championship, and that does diminish what they did as players, but i think if a-rod plays out his contract with the yankees he will have at least one or two rings

Curses are for losers! Why do you think Boston came up with the "Curse of the Bambino"?
- 1 decade ago
no because he doesn't deliver when the spot light is on him if he has a chance to win the game and he really doesn't get along with his team mates!!!!!!!!11

If they had good pitching, which they don't. And what has happened to A-rod lately? He started out so well....
