It would depend on what you're looking for and what site you're dealing with. Many sites will give you the prices of their items, and some will make you either register or fill in shipping information before they give you the total cost, including shipping and taxes (if applicable). It's just the nature of online shopping sometimes.
You could try to search the site's FAQs for shipping charges - sometimes they're upfront about how much shipping is. Sometimes shipping is based on a total dollar amount, while other times it's a weight-based and location-based calculation (which is why some require the shipping address).
