I can't give you a definitive answer - this is coming from the top of my head.

The oldest team, most definitely, is Melbourne (Demons). The second oldest, is Geelong (Cats). Their rivalry is 150 years.

The newest team is Port Adelaide Power (which used to be Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL).

South Melbourne relocated to Sydney in 1982.

Fitzroy and Brisbane merged in 1997.

Interstate teams to join the competition in order (I think):

West Coast, Brisbane, Adelaide, Fremantle, Port Adelaide.

North Melbourne Kangaroos came in 1925.

Other teams: Essendon, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton, Fitzroy, Footscray came in around 1900.
