How can I perk up my iris bed?? It is about 30 years old, but I thin it every 2 or 3 yrs.?
I know that you can add something to the soil . . . is it lime? If so, how much? TIA

For this you need to give it plant food and put extra nutrients in the soil, look on the net and find plants that it likes and plant them next to your Irisis this will give the iris's a better chance, keep pests away and like I said put loads of nutrients in the soil, also take the Ph number and check to see whether it is that, because if your bed has been their for thirty years I should imagine a lot of the nutrients have worn out.

At 5, he isn't considered to be really late. Although most kids potty train at night at the same time as they do in the day, neither of my kids did. I have found that the better rest they get, and the more I can stick to a consistant bed time, the less often they wet the bed. My oldest was 6 1/2, and it was like all of a sudden, he didn't wet the bed any more. He is 8 1/2 now, and has very occasional accidents. Again, it happens when his mommy :) lets him stay up until the wee hours of the night watching movies! My little one is 4 1/2 and only wets occasionally (once or twice a week maybe). The rest rule applies to him as well. He has really terrible allergies, so that factors in on his rest/dry bed too. I figure it makes sense that if they are totally exhausted, they sleep deeper, therefore the sensation doesn't wake them as easily. That said, there is also a neat little device that our pediatrician gave my mom for me & my brother that helped in a matter of days (we were 7-ish before it was considered an issue to the doc). It had a little device that fit in a pocket that she sewed into our underware that was connected to a buzzer that was pinned to the shoulder of our PJs. If it got the tiniest bit of moisture on it, it started buzzing like crazy! The idea is to train the brain to more readily recognize the sensation while sleeping, and wake up to go to the bathroom. Believe me, it doesn't take too many nights before it sinks in! Hope this helps!

This fall pull your iris' and add a lot of compost and a tablespoonful of bone meal under each one. They should do much better next year. Fertilize them when they start growing next year.
