Some time ago whilst taking our narrowboat down the Witham to Boston the Spitfire and Hurricane were circling around off in the distance. We lost sight of them until they spotted us and both flew about 100 ft above us following the course of the river waggling thier wings as they flew off.Our own private airshow. They circled back around and over us again before heading off to RAF Conningsby..The baot and water seamed to almost vibrate.WWWWWOOOOOWWWW

Another sound that makes the hairs on my neck stand up is the Sea Fury,I'm a bit biased I had two to service in the Fleet Air Arm and one old Seafire.

  • Magical merlins.

Fantastic sound. I am lucky enough to work at an airfield that regularly has spitfire and seafires as visitors. Everyone goes outside to hear the roar.

What about the Spitfire,Hurricans were the fighters.

    Hanley-Page were bombers.
