Proof of extraordinary beliefs and love? All welcome, interested in Athiest viewpoint?

There was just a question asked about extraordinary beliefs being proved. It's at

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsbPz...

My question, specifically for people who don't profess a spiritual belief, is about love.

Do you love someone? I think that love, like spirituality, is also extraordinary. Wouldn't one then need proof of love?

How do you prove to your loved ones that you indeed love them? Are actions enough? How do you quantify loving someone? Is it all brain patterns? Are emotions involved? How do you quantify them?

I'm truly interested in answers from all realms, but particualry from Athiests. My personal belief is that everyone finds their own truth, and I'm asking the question to truly try and understand and not be snarky. Thanks!

You bet.... I do love someone and I believe that they love me... that is because we show it each day in what we do for and with each other. A strong claim needs strong proof... the proof is visible, tangible, and reproducible.

Love, like all things bound to the universe, is non existent without some amount of physics and chemistry attached to it. As a scientist cynically pointed out, cupid’s arrows would never have been effective if they had not been first dipped in one unromantically named chemical- phenylethylamine.

The common symptoms of love, including sweaty palms, shaky knees and general restlessness, are caused by a natural chemical, Phenylethylamine (commonly dubbed the `love molecule'). Its release from the brain can be triggered from deceptively simple actions like the meeting of the eyes or touching of the hands. Heady emotions, racing pulses and heavy breathing results, and all these are (unfortunately) clinically explained as an overdose of this chemical. A very interesting thing is that chocolate is known to have very high level of this chemical…perhaps that’s the reason why it is considered a perfect gift for valentine. Or for your sweetheart.

Another interesting chemical is oxytoxin, the `cuddling ‘chemical. It promotes the need to be physically held, have close contact with your mate and makes both the sexes more caring. It can be released simply by a lover’s look, smell or even a fantasy.

Source(s): Yes, I am an atheist. And yes, I believe love can be extraordinary, but it can also be explained by science. No spirituality needed.

Evolution is a concept it quite is accpeted among many. this is not a regulation. besides the undeniable fact that that's a concept that replaced into made by using guy and Creationist have faith in thoughts and documentation from others that have been giving. in addition they use technology for discoveries besides as evolutionist. I comprehend that that's a concept too. there's a regulation that states that a "gadget of interacting debris it quite is left undisturbed by using outdoors impacts. by using interacting, they'll share power/momentum between themselves and attain a state the place the international information are Unchanging in time." there's a concern with evolution from what I see right here because of the fact meaning how replaced into that first particle to alter and evolve without something else interacting? for the duration of thermolization "while a molecule absorbs power, as interior the technique of molecular fluorescence, the existence of the excited state is ~10 raised to -12 sec. Then it immediately loses power to the backside point of the backside excited state." So at times we are De-evolving? to evolve potential to strengthen or 'gain' (key be conscious) gradually and this isn't any longer what's happening. And as far as human beings argueing that the bible is 2000 years old...properly there are a number of human beings and historic references we've that are even older than that. What approximately chinese language heritage? Dates that pass back even extra than that. Julius Ceasar, Aristotle, Joan of Arc, and a super variety of Kings we settle for quite lived and that they pass back that far. What? Are we purely gonna %. favorites?

well im agnostic so its close to atheist.

and im not sure if this is what your looking for but for love, you shouldnt strugle to show actions or proof that you love that person because it usualy comes out naturaly.

but i think that proving that you truly love that person is improtant cause how can you know if that person is bullshiting?how can you be in love without showing any emotions?but then again, spiritual love doesnt need proof.im in a spiratual love and you could sense the love, the vibe of the person that even by the simplest actions of the person, you can sense it.even from far away.its an amazing feeling!

I'm an Atheist and I accept your invitation.

I think of it like this: There are people on this earth whom I love. A particular feeling of attachment that fits the generally understood description of "love" is associated in my mind with these people. As such, having personally experienced I know through evidence that love exists. Past there it is not too much of a leap for me to think that other people experience these feelings as well, some even towards me. I am a generally honest fellow and the people I love tend to believe me when I profess my love to them, and I see no reason to expect lies from them on the subject.

Love has been exploited. It is about making a commitment to someone and honoring it regardless of the effort required and finding ways to grow within that relationship. If the other person stops growing they will fall away or you will recognize that it is time for that love to change form and leave. That is not to say I am condoning shunning the other person only being apart from them for a time so they can grow or die.

Well, im not atheist. But I believe that love is indeed extraordinary. I myself am in love but am too shy to tell the person, so i have been constantly trying to prove or to show him that i do love him. Whether you have to show or prove is i think based on the person but for me it is needed. And i think love does have a bit to do with spirituallity.

Love is an emotion we all have. Belief in God is an emotion we all don't have. Actually there are some people who do not have emotion. Anythings possible. How do I prove my love for my husband? By loving him unconditionally. (even god doesn't do that, I don't think) I'm there for him, I take care of him. I support him.

Loving another means you feel willing to sacrifice and compromise for the good of the other.
