Can someone please explain....?
Can someone please explain what a "immigration bill" is and this thing about amnesty?
I dont live in the US so dont shoot cause i dont know lol.
I read a few threads on the site here but want to know what it really is?
Thanks
Thnx for the answers.
All I have to say is.... Holy Crap!! Giving 12 mil illegals legal??? And $5000 over 13 yrs is NOTHING! I had to pay $2000 upfront and other costs for medical examination etc... for my defacto visa in Australia. This was with :no refund" if my application was denied.
Um I dont think this "bill" is a good idea. And how will it assure keeping others from coming into the country illegal?

Oh it's just Ted Kennedy's latest drunken attempt to destroy this country. Bidness as usual.
Why can't everyone just admit that every country is a "nation of immigrants," so that lame reasoning just doesn't work?

Ok, I'll try to explain without letting my personal opinions on the matter tinge my explanation.
In the U.S., we have laws that regulate and control the level of immigration into our country. This is done as a means to keep a controlled, safe, accountable system of coming to the U.S. However, some people, due to lack of respect for laws, inability to pay the fees, impatience with our system (amongst other reasons), bypass our regulations and just come into the country without documentation - sneaking across borders, using fake ID's, overstaying visas, etc.
There are millions of people in our country that have come here illegally. It is so large that it is affecting our towns, hospitals, schools, security, etc.
Now, most people in the U.S. agree that people should be able to come here. But, the differences in opinion is that some believe that only the people who come through legally deserve to be here. There are others that feel that the government should grant amnesty, which would basically forgive those who did not follow the legal process, and let them stay here, and be eligible for citizenship.
This latest bill is an attempt to reconcile the three groups - those who are illegal immigrants, the citizens that want amnesty, and the citizens that are against it. If passed, it would allow those here without documentation to pay fines, leave and reenter.
This new bill is much more complicated than our current laws, and as it is the U.S. is not enfocing the laws already on the books - this new one would be even harder. And, the fines ($5,000) are too steep for many of the illegals to pay.
I hope this helps...

The immigration bill is as follows! Illegal aliens in this country, are to be granted something called a Z visa. What this is , is a visa granting them the right to work and reside partially in the US, for the duration of this visa! Every 6 months to a year, they may or may not have to leave to apply for a new visa! This visa , by any means, DOES NOT grant permanent residence to these immigrants. However, these immigrants will be given an equal opportunity to apply for permanent residence with a $5000.00 fine , plus the cost of adjusting status! If granted, these aliens can then naturalize to become citizens! What this means is if they desire a permanent resident card (Green Card), they will have to pay and apply just like everyone else! This is the part that is not being clearly understood by alot of people! Tougher laws will soon follow, making it harder for employers to hire illegal aliens, and family reunion programs, are going to become a little more difficult for these people!
Hope this helps

They want to give 12 - 20 million illegal aliens from mexico citizenship in america, plus some other stuff they throw in to smoke screen the issue.
Oh yeah i forgot they have to pay $5000 over 13years and their bitching about it, they have no idea how many americans gave their lives to preserve the freedom of this country and all they can do is complain that they have to pay a fee to live here, give me a break.

well, you just hit a nerve with this question! you'll see the answers.
An "Immigration Bill" is a new law they are trying to approve to give all the Illegal immigrants in the US legal status, well that will also include A way to secure the borders, and a lot of other amendments.
Everybody gets ticked off because we all have different opinions on how to deal with this issue, who we all agree needs to be addressed in a very humane way, some others let the hate and ignorance invade their hearts and mind and forget that this country is based on immigration. This country has always received with open arms to all immigrants.

Basicly; Once this bill is signed into law the illegal will be legally here, with out having to do anything else they will be entitled to all citizens rights and can bleed this country dry....

The bill is to keep illegal persons out of the us,an there is no amnesty they have to pay 5000.00 dollars an wait years to become a us citizen so to me it is all bs they have broken are laws so send there butts back to where ever they came from

Sure...Amnesty is forgiving illegal aliens for breaking the laws of the land. The immigration bill is the bill which creates to the law to "forgive" the current illegal aliens in the USA. We have something like 20,000,000+ of illegal aliens here...but MOST Americans are not buying it because of the fact that they tried it in the 1980s and it HURT the USA big time!
Illegal aliens are not immigrants, and that is according to Websters definition...NOT mine.

Illegal immigration is such a huge impact in areas where illegal immigrants concentrate that our schools are failing and our hospitals are closing and our OWN people need those services.
12 to 20 million people illegally here isn't a minor impact.
