Best mobile phone connection with roaming service in India?

I am an NRI from UAE, used to travel frequently to India and other GCC countries. I wish to apply for a post-paid mobile connection from Kerala, India.

Can anybody advise me a best mobile phone provider with roaming service throughout India as well as the Gulf countries. So I can benefit from the “double” roaming charges for all incoming calls originated from India.

Thank you.

Roaming rates for BSNL are apparently the best. However Tata indicom had come up with a free incoming add on pack for Rs 150 in which case all (i think presently it is 750 min) incoming is free. not too sure about roaming abroad.

The version of the Hero sold in the US is a CDMA phone marketed by Sprint. This is not a GSM phone, so it won't work in most of the rest of the world. You'd have to look at European dealers for that. The X6 is sold around the world as an unlocked device for GSM networks. You will have to find one that will work on your local data networks (with the right UTMS frequencies).

  • Not for certain, but I have had really good luck with simple freedom the pre-paid phone. You buy the minutes as you go. They have a other calling plans too, go to www.simplefreedom.net ( i think)--if that address is no good, go to ask.com and type in simplefreedom and look for the phone web site. it's either .net or .com
