If you are limited to under $1000 DO NOT buy a new one. I know that some Chinese models can be had for that money. No No No. There are some Chinese or Korean scooters that are pretty good, but not the under $1000 ones. Buy a used Honda or Yamaha. Honda is liquid cooled, (good), Yamaha is not. Both are great. Find a used one that has been well treated and it'll far outlast a new cheap Chinese scooter.

Most China 49cc 4-stroke scooters have a top speed of around 30 mph. If you need to keep up with faster traffic, consider a 150cc which has a top speed of around 55-60 mph . . but will also require registration, insurance, and a driver license motorcycle endorsement.

I have a moto fino 125 cc, its a great scooter. looks like the old vespa's. I bought mine through wordwide distributing out of augusta, ga. i have over 2500 miles on it and it runs great.
