  • On the water in a metal pontoon boat as a lightning and rain storm approaches. What action should be taken?

I keep getting different opinions about whether a boat is grounded like a car if struck by lightning. Obviously the smart option is to get off the water. But if that is not possible when a storm quickly approaches what should be plan B?

  • Rust in my gas tank, remedy?

A few days ago I traveled 450 miles to a motorcycle dealer to buy a used 2007 Yamaha Morphous with only 38 miles on the bike. The dealer assured me that the bike was serviced before the sale and all fluids were new. Long story short: riding it yesterday all was well but it soon began to stall when starting out. At speed it ran fine. The bike is fuel injected. Now that some gas was gone I looked into the filler neck and could see spotty surface rust in the tank. Apparently the debris in the tank is causing my problem. Anybody know of an easy fix for this?

  • I spilled a gallon of gas onto the floor of my new car. How do I get rid of the smell?

Two weeks ago a container of gasoline that I was transporting tipped over and 1 gallon poured onto the floor behind and under the driver's seat. I sponged it out before using a one gallon solution of Dawn detergent four times, scrubbing and rinsing. The last solution I left on the floor over night before rinsing and vacuuming almost dry. The smell remained. I've tries baking soda, vinegar, store bought odor destroyers by rid dry, air fresheners, charcoal, deodorizers and prayer. Nothing has eliminated the odor which is that of gas and everything I've tried combined. This is a new Ford Flex which I can't afford to trade in because I owe too much. Could this be an insurance claim? Any suggestions for odor removal?

  • Is Bi Polar contagious?

My wife of 32 years has been being treated for Bi Polar disorder for nearly 30 years. Life has not been so much fun for her or our kids and me. Lately I've been more unhappy than ever. After a few visits to a Psychiatrist I've been diagnosed as Bi Polar. My ups and downs are not as extreme as her's but I can feel them. My family is unaware of my diagnosis which I just got yesterday. They're also unaware that I've been having these issues that I've mostly kept hidden. Did I become Bi Polar because of decades of trying to help my family through my wife's disease?

  • Can I switch back to insulin?

I'm a long time type 2 diabetic. About a year ago my MD and I decided to try Byetta in lieu of Novalin R, but with Novalin N. I had some nausea issues but it did help me to lose 20 lbs and kept my A1C in an acceptable range. Recent TV ads disclosing links between Byetta and pancreatic cancer and thyroid cancer caused my family to pressure me to stop taking Byetta; to return to Novalin R. I changed back to the insulin last week. Now my glucose test readings are never below 160 and usually over 200. Sometimes near 300. Question, (finally), is there an adjustment time I should expect? Will my numbers eventually return to reasonable readings? Or am I destined to go back to Byetta? Thank you for your time on this lengthy dialog.

  • How long a shaft for trolling motor?

I have a small dinghy that I want to put an electric trolling motor on the transom. How do I determine the length of the shaft that I need? The dinghy is molded poly something and is 9' long and 55" wide and weighs 114lbs empty. I think I need a short shaft from what information I've collected looking online. But I have no specific information. The transom is rated to 5hp for an outboard motor.

  • I have Byetta that I no longer use. Can I sell or donate it?

I'm diabetic and for the past year I've been using Byetta. I tried to cancel my last order because I'm going back on insulin, but it arrived in the mail, a ninety day supply that cost me a deductible and my insurance over $1000. It is in a sealed chilled package. I also have two Byetta pens in the package, refrigerated and unopened. All together I've got over $1600 worth of diabetic medication. Any advice?

  • I don't want to go to my daughter's wedding?

My daughter is going to get married soon. I won't go into detail but I no longer approve of the husband to be. The more I get to know him there is less that I like. I feel that he is an immature 29 year old who is more interested in his expensive toys and doing what he wants to give the false impression that he is successful. He is all flash, no cash, no good credit. He lied about having a college degree early on but soon cleared that up by saying he is one semester short. My daughter says, "I know" when his short comings are brought to her attention. I don't want to go to the wedding. My wife says I must. What do you think?

  • Can I fill in a swimming pool?

I live in Florida in a home with a pool. I have an open 1st mtg and an open home equity line. With both I am, (as many homes in Florida are), upside down/out of equity. The pool is rarely used. Very rarely used. I get in it to clean it. My wife has been in 3 times in our 13 years here. Maintaining it is like throwing money into a hole. I'd like to be done with it; to fill it in. I know the pool is calculated in the value of the home and considered as collateral. How can I get rid of this money pit?

  • Does anyone know where the rest of the chicken goes?

It seems that chicken wings are great sellers. Many eateries specialize in wings; hot wings, medium wings, dry wings. Super bowl Sunday will soon be here and wings are second only to pizza for those Super Bowl parties. Where is the market for the rest of the chicken, and is it a market large enough to utilize all those wingless chickens?

  • Can you see the gap between wealthy and working class widening?

Around 40 years ago a wealthy person was worth 10 times that of a working man. Now that gap has widened to hundreds of times more wealth. Investors want more return for their investment. That increase is usually at the cost of wages or even jobs for the working man. Wages are frozen or cut. Jobs are shipped abroad. Corporations increase profits by reducing costs. Foreign workers pay no income tax to the USA, but business deducts wages paid to foreign employees as operating expenses and pays less tax. Big business paying $20 per hour here can cut that in half by moving south. Save even more by going south to Mexico. But they can put those jobs in China and pay $5 per hour. And when that gets to be too much those jobs can go to Ethiopia where they'll work for a doughnut. Yet working class voters support the right wing politicians who are sponsored by big business. The same big business that is ruining the economy and sending jobs abroad. And the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. What's next, slavery?

  • Underwear for diabetic men?

Is there such a thing as loose fitting, elastic free underwear for men who have diabetes? Diabetes has caused me to have skin issues on my face and scalp. For me the snugness of underwear at the waist and especially at the groin causes an irritation that must be medicated. At times I feel like I'd rather be wearing a loose fitting cheesecloth mini skirt as underwear. Even boxer shorts tend to 'ride' up into the crotch creating red, sensitive areas. Is there special underwear available for people like me? Maybe someone should create such a product.

  • Is it improper to plug a motorcycle tire?

Saw a nail in the rear tire of my VTX1800F. The nail was near the center of the tire; an inch or so off center. It's a wide, low profile, expensive radial tire with only 3000 miles on it. I pulled the nail and the tire immediately went flat. I inserted a tire plug as I've done before on cars. That's all I did, no patch. Since then I've ridden the bike about 75 miles with no leaks or other issues. The center tread does not flex as a sidewall does so I think I'm OK with the plug. However others say I'm not; that the stress on the tire from acceleration and turning will cause the plug to fail. Is there someone out there who can advise me on this matter? Thanks in advance.
