Accessories, System Tools and System Restore, This will reset your settings, but I don't think it will bring back docs. that have been deleted. It's worth a try.

system restore is what your looking for... but unfortunately it will not bring back the deleted files. It only returns the system setting to the previous point, but all personal files and documents are gone once deleted.

It won't bring back documents, only system files.
Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore.

You do have a System Restore, but you have to manuelly set a system restore point in order to do, and chances are, you didnt, but you can check. Should be in the start menu, under accessories, system tools, Restore Point

Windows XP had a "roll back" feature, but that only happens when installing new hardware and drivers. It won't bring back files that you deleted. You would need backup software to do that.

if it is less than a week or so to your trashcan on your desktop
right click open or explore
find the files and select restore
If you have deleted the trash they are there but you will need an recovery undelete program

You have a file in your System32 folder named:
rstrui.exe
Open that file and it starts a restore system utility that will allow you select a previous day to move your system settings to values/parameters for that day.
