I have an old desktop that is running p4 2.8 ghz, Asus motherboard with 1 GB of ram (512 pc2700 ddr sdram x 2)

Since prices on memory these days have fallen greatly, I was thinking about an upgrade. Apparently the price between 2 GB pc2700 ddr sdram, and a 2GB pc3200 ddr sdram are almost the same. With certain discounts, I've seen pc3200 go cheaper than the pc2700. (Newegg showed a kingston 2gb pc2700 for around $50, and Corsair 2gb pc3200 for around $25 after rebate)

So which would be a better build? 3gb of pc2700 or 2Gb of pc3200?

(I wasn't planning on mixing 2gb pc3200 with my 1gb pc2700, but if it is a valid build, let me know)

I'm just a regular graduate student living in southern california..

just came to my mind about climbing the mt Everest...

but I have no clue on how I should start preparing myself.

I know it would take me many years to prepare for such a grand advanture but would like to know how I should go about preparing it.

Maybe a local mountain hiking would start me off? I have no clue.

I used to have a Turkish Van when I used to live with my brother. We were both going to school at that time so it wasn't like we were never home to take care of the cat. I believe since it was already an adult cat that we adopted, there wasn't much to take care of him.

I'm living by myself now, And I'll be going to grad school soon and also will work part time. I'm not sure how long I would spend my time at home at this point, but I was wondering if my situation would allow me to adopt and raise a kitten. I'm assuming that a kitten would need a lot more attention than an adult cat.

Would I be able to take care of the kitten? will the kitten be happy? Would the kitten be in danger if I leave him alone in the house? (I work with computers... and have many many cables under my desk)

I changed my computer case yesterday...

My compuer have been running really good... so just decided to change off the case.

With Everything connected...

When I push the power on button, the Power Supply Unit will give a little buzz sound, and the computer stays turned off.

I thought the Power Supply that came with the case was bad, so I plugged in the Power supply that I was previously using, but same thing!

What's wrong!?

I started out Turbotax with the deluxe version...

and throughout filing my taxes...

I learned that I don't really need the deluxe version.

I can tax with the basic version which the federal tax is free.

Problem I'm having. is that when I log on with my ID, turbo tax automatically takes me to the deluxe edition website.

Is there a way to change from the deluxe edition to the basic one?

I wasn't sure if turbo tax will let me create a new account with same name/ssn/dob... and I didn't want my information hanging loose in a account that I wouldn't really use.

If there is a way, enlighten me please!

I just can't figure out a good way to spend my spare time.

I goto work until 8am and come home around 5 or 6 pm.

Somedays I'll spend my evening with my girlfriend

Somedays I'll stay home and play games or watch tv.

Sometimes I'll do the same thing on the weekends.

...as you can see in my last two sentences, I don't do much.

I see people go hunting, bike riding, surfing... those little cars you ride in sands.. and etc...

I want to start some kind of a hobby.

I'm sick of playing around with computers at home, because my job IS fixing computers..

I would like add more flavor to my life.

What do you guys do with your time? Any recommendation for me to do? Best way for me to start that?

I believe the last version I played was counter strike 1.6, which I believe it was the last version before the retail version started to came out.

I would like to know how counter strike experience has changed since.

Obviously better graphics..

What I would like to know is the online experience.

some specific questions would be..

1. I know that talking with your headphone gear was just starting from my last play... which was seriously annoying...

I'm assuming it's all over the place now?

2. I remember there was a server that ran like Warcraft Mods, which is still counter strike, but lets you suck blood off of the person your shooting, have 10x powered up granades.. etc.

Are they still around?

350W Power Supply Unit.

I'm thinking about upgrading to 1g Ram

and getting a Geforce 7600GT 128mb

Now I've been hearing that Geforce 7600GT Runs great with 350W PSUs. Plus doesn't really lack anything to 7800GS.

And I know that psu is not just the watts but all the rails that need attention... which I have no clue..

If I upgrade without upgrading my PSU would my pc run decently?

As you can see my pc is getting pretty old,

I just want to spend maybe like $200 for an upgrade for it to last maybe a year or two longer.

(...or until Microsoft stops supporting windows XP.. which I think they said 3 years from now?)

Unfortunately my motherboard only has a AGP 8X slot...

and I do really want to upgrade my Graphic card.

I was looking at the Geforce 7800 GS

...which i believe it was the only AGP in the 7XXX series?

Not sure... but hell 7800 looks good to me.

these 4 manufacturers are which I found to have 7800 GS.

BFG.. which is the cheapest and has an OC (around $200)

XFX, eVGA, and PNY are all around $300.

1. Which manufacturer would you recommend for the Geforce 7800 GS?

I dont OC or anything.. just use it as is.

2. Why is BFG so cheaper than the other ones?

wouldn't a OC graphic card be faster than a normal card?

3. Should I wait some more?

I know that from now on.. all the good graphic cards are going to come with the PCI-E...

But really don't need an extra motherboard and a CPU right now.

Any chance the Geforce 7800 GS will have a price drop in few weeks?

I'm just assuming that price will remain around the same cause its the only powerful card with AGP..

I was using Windows Media Player 9

and whenever I'm streaming a movie (like watching movie trailor from AMC site or watching games in gamespot) or just playing files, somehow it will look really dark.

I have installed a program called GOM which my friend recommended and it worked fine there.

I tryed messing with the brightness and contrast of the video but didn't really helped.

I did upgraded my graphic card driver to the latest...

and i tried upgrading to windows media player 10.

but still dark.

no spyware or virus problems since I run ad-aware, spyware and anti viruses everyday.

Any information on the darkened video would be great.

When I see "Entry Level position" in job boards etc..

I think 'Fresh out of college' or something like 0 experience..

Looking to gain experience..

or

Maybe some intern experience..

But I see alot of companies posting "Entry Level position"

and put some ridiculous requirements like "3-5 years of experience."

And have like 10 skills of sort that are "required."

If thats the case..

wouldn't they have to make another level such as "Pre-Entry level"

for stupid college graduates such as myself?

Why don't they post it on 'experience level positions'?

I'm just curious why those companies post those "supposely entry level jobs..

especially at college boards.
