I have a folder that opens everytime I start my computer. How can I get it to stop opening upon startup?

It is a system folder so deleting it is not an answer. I am running Windows XP Home edition.

    Your computer has a spyware.

    Go to Start

    Click on Run

    Type msconfig

    Click on OK

    System Configuration will open

    Go to startup Tab

Look for a blank startup item there, uncheck it

    Press Apply and Press Close

    Restart the computer

Click on Don't show this message

    Click on OK

then do an Online ewido scan

I don't know if this will help, but try it anyway:

    1)Boot up your computer

2)After the folder pops up, close it.

    3)Go to start menu.

4)Slide over to All Programs menu.

5)Slide over to the Startup menu.

6)If the folder name is in there, delete it.(This will not delete the folder within the system: it will stop the folder from opening up at Windows startup. If that doesn't work, you'll have to set up a brand new Windows.)

    P.S. Hope this helps.

    Try Start

    Run

type "msconfig" in the slot and click OK

Select the Startup tab and then locate the offending file or folder and disable it. Then click OK. You will have to restart to have the change take effect.

If it is the system32 folder, check out this article

It is due to a corrupt registry entry. You can do a google search as well.
