Has anyone climbed to the 2nd platform of the Eiffel Tower in Paris?

I do not have hours to wait in line and am wondering how long it takes to climb to the 2nd platform.

How long from the ground to the 1st platform and then from the 1st platform to the 2nd platform?

Do you take the elevator down or climb back down?

I am a very fit 30+ year old male. THANKS.

It doesn't take very long, especially if you're relatively fit. I would say the whole trip up took about 20 minutes. The only thing that makes the trip that long is having to dodge children and people taking breaks along the way. I can't remember how long it took in between the 2 levels, since we stopped for snacks in between. You will still have to pay and wait for an elevator if you want to go all the way to the top viewing platform. I believe that stairs up also mean stairs down. Good luck!

Without stopping at the first floor I can get up there in about 8-9 mins (including needing to overtake slow, fat people who insist on walking inthe middle of the stairs and having to cope with people coming down at the same time). I'm pushing quite hard, but not running. I'm a bit puffed out when I get there, but 5 mins looking at the view is enough recovery time. The first floor comes up really quickly, but as I haven't stopped there for years I don't knw how long it actually takes. I've never taken the elevator in over 20 years' visiting.

i was there last summer. Its quite the experience. It shouldnt take hours to get to an elevator but if your willing to make a serious hike its worth every step and youll save some cash. Dont plan on doing much after this, you will be tired. There are places to get a drink at the platform, but you walk down as well.
