Anyone remember a sci fi story about some kids lost (or held captive) in a maze?

The book cover was white and I think that it had a red cube or square on it. I read this story and bits of it have stuck with me for ages! I remember borrowing the book from our local library, but not much more detail about the book itself. I think that there were several teens/pre-teens in the story and that the primary characters were a boy and a girl. They were lost (or held captive) in some sort of meandering maze that provided them with food. It may have been an experiment. I think that they were in the maze of cubes for several days. I think that I read it in the early 80's, in middle school. Any ideas?

It sounds vaguely like "House of Stairs" by William Sleator, except there were stairs instead of a maze. They did get rewarded with food, though.

There are many editions of it with different artwork, but this cover is mostly white with a reddish light in the middle -- does it look right to you? http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs.cmu.edu/user/sleator/...

The book is still in print: http://www.amazon.com/House-Stairs-William-Sleator...

I saw a sci-fi movie once called "The Cube" or "Cube" and it sounds almost like the book you just described. Maybe that's it? Here's a link to wikipedia if you want to read about it. If this isn't it, there is a list of related works at the bottom that may list the book you're thinking of.

    Labyrinth

It sounds like the 80's movie Labyrinth. I know she's reading a red book in the begining of the movie.
