Does the run score if a runner is doubled up on a fly ball to the outfield?
Man on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Fly ball out to center field and the runner on 3rd advances to score. Runner on 1st gets picked off going back to first, after run comes across the plate. Since that is a force play at first, does the run count?

Uh, this same question was asked yesterday. Please read the archives before posting.
Anyway, let's clear up one misconception: The play at first is not a force play, as the runner wasn't forced to advance.
Therefore, we have a timing play. So because the runner from third crossed the plate before the third out, the run counts.

You are incorrect; it is NOT a force play. A force play occurs as a result of the batter becoming a runner. Even though the rules 'force' the runner to return to first and tag up, the definition of a force play does not apply. As the third out did not occur until after the run scored, and it was not a force out, or an out by the batter/runner before reaching first base, the run counts.

The run does count. Since the runner on third scored before the runner at first was doubled up, the run counts.

runner on first is NOT a force play....is just an appeal play, runner leaving base too early....if run scores before man on 1st return base, run counts, that is a timing play.

the run scores if the man on third scores before the third out is made, since it is not a force out and you cannot assume a double play
