What are some good places to eat in LA (Los Angeles)?

I'm going there on vacation for a week. Preferably cheaper places. And other than In and Out Burger. I already know I have to try that. Thanks!

Depends on what you are in the mood for eating. It seems like your key word is cheap, and not necessarily a sit down restaurant, since that can be kinda pricey.

    Sandwiches:

Philippe's near Olvera Street & China town has great beef dipped sandwiches! The Hat in has the best pastrami.

    Mexican:

Olvera Street; King Taco all around L.A. has cheap but good carne asada tacos, burritos & sopes.

    Greek/Mediteranean:

Zankou chicken has some good wraps, as well as Daphne's.

    Healthy:

Koo Koo Roo is a little pricey & in posher neighborhoods, but their original chicken is really good.

    Chinese:

I would recommend going to Chinatown, Alhambra or Monterey Park, there are a lot of restaurants galore.

    Late night diner type Restaurants:

    Canter's on Fairfax, & Mel's Drive in.

There are some great cheap & good eats throughout L.A.

I would re-post your question if there is a specific type of food you would like to try. We have so many diverse types and they are all throughout Southern California. What area are you specifically going to be staying in? There is the west side of L.A. like Santa Monica, or the East side like downtown & San Gabriel Valley (Pasadena). Or are you gong to be out in a tourist section like Anaheim in Orange County?

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles - great soul food.

1514 N Gower St Los Angeles, CA

    Barney's Beanery - great everything

8447 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA

Two of my favorite low-brow LA restaurants

Pinks hot dog in Hollywood is a good place. I love the tacos at Tito's taco in Los Angeles.

The Original World Famous Tommy's, located on Rampart & Beverly. They have my favorite tasting chili cheeseburger. Though I don't often eat beef, I go there if I have time when ever I'm in LA.
