PBS Documentary question?

Did anyone see the documentary on PBS a few nights back? They were asking the question "do animals know in advance when there is a natural disaster about to occur?" After hearing the pros and cons, I think they do. What are your thoughts?

    I agree.

I think they probably have a lot more intuition than we give them credit for.

I absolutely believe that animals know in advance of a natural disaster. I have a black lab, and as sure as I know my own name, she knows when a thunder storm is brewing. Her actions are always the same, and, she has never been wrong. She is also afraid of the thunder and lightning, so as soon as she can sense the storm she starts. Pacing, panting, and trying to hid or crawl under the bed, which is pretty funny to see because she can only hide her head. But the answer to the ?? is yes, I think they can tell in advance.

Yes I do believe that. Animals have a very keen ability to sense danger. There is video of birds and animals scurrying about and getting themselves on higher ground long before the Tsunami hit. It's amazing.

I didnt see that but I totaly think they do! They can sense thinderstorms(for sure my dog can! she flips out), earthquakes, everything. Like Horses around my house run around crazy when its about to rain or storm. My dog pants a bunch and jumps into your lap-even though shes 85 lbs- too.

They can feel the pressure change in the air or something, right?

Hello...indeed they do...as was proven when the Tsunami hit..the animals sensed it & fled from witness accounts..when an animal is fleeing...you flee too, also things will get unusually quiet when animals sense a danger coming, "Calm before the storm" as they say, I learned that in tornado country, never failed !! Take Care :)

Dogs can sense electrical changes and smells that are associated with some natural disasters. They also pick up on vibrations and sounds we don't....so yes they can. I don't think it is some magical power they have though.

What is news about this? The U.S.G.S. has noticed this phenomena for the past 15 years... at least... this is NOT new information... it's old information and well proven.

Sure, it's intuition. Humans would have more if they used it in the first place.
