It could be answered so many ways. #10 Other woman are answering your questions seriously because they actually want to help you, while the guys can tell you're joking. #9 Women have one bad week every four while men have bad attitudes all year round and have learn to laugh at it. #8 If a guy doesn't understand or remember what you're talking about, the goto response is to crack a joke. #7 A priest, a rabbi and a duck walk into (I'm sorry, I forgot what we were talking about). #6 More guys are intentionally funny, more women are inadvertently hilarious. #5 Chick flicks are rarely comedies (this is SOOOO true and you know it!) #4 Funny men often are compensating for something else and we can't all drive nice cars. #3 Girls are sexier when they smile so we practice making them smile more often. #2 It's the second most attractive trait in a man besides money (the funniest guy you know is flat broke). And my top reason for why guys are wittier than girls is #1 We need a sense of humor to deal with an opposite sex that requires buy new purses when the old ones fill up rather than emptying them, yelling at us to put the toilet seat down when they never put it back up when they're done, and spends three hours getting ready to hang out with people they've been bad mouthing all week.

Many times, guys find it hard to be serious and share what they really feel and sometimes are embarrassed when people find out they are kind and caring towards others ~ just not that macho image they strive for but women don't care about. Women want to see that sensitive side of men that they hide through joking or by changing the subject so they don't have to give a straight answer (not all guys but most do this).

Women are more honest and ready to solve a problem in a quick efficient manner and they are ready to nurture others when they think they can help and/or encourage others in some small way. Women are more open about their feelings and don't have any qualms about letting people see that they hurt or are upset over something.

Obviously You are seeking a genuine, honest and by no means facetious answer to Your question. Put simply, Male and Female brains are different. Men use a particular area to process information whilst Women use a different area. Men use 'ratiocination' to make deductive thought processes. Women tend to be more emotional in Their thinking. Basically, Males have a switch inside Our brain which tells Us, intuitively, that We are not the brunt of the joke, whereas Females take any comment as being an affront to Their self esteem. Think about how My answer is accepted by Men and Women. Their reactions should be different. Some Males will instinctively endeavor to become 'witty' when replying to any question. That is how We are. Others value the essence of truth, and show it due respect. That too is how We Men think.

There are some really interesting studies about this.

Men are often socialized to talk with each other with particular kinds of humor, including one-upmanship humor. Their banter is often competitive showmanship.

Women are often socialized to talk with each other differently. Certain types of humor (like poking fun at friends) and one upmanship humor are more problematic for women, who are working to foster certain kinds of serious (trust-based) ties with one another. It's more dangerous in female relationships to poke fun at one another. But when men are talking with other males, they often expect to be put down humorously and then to do the same to others.

The way I understand it, our socialization for how we approach humor is very often through relationships with our own gender. Of course gender and humor differences vary from culture group to culture group.

Guys seem to be more logical and have more common sense than the girls who are usually sheltered and haven't had to think for themselves.
