do you have any plants in your home?? sometimes plant will draw bugs like that and you can try getting some spray from the hardware store for you plans or removing them and see if that helps. other then that's i would say if it that bad maybe have an exterminator come take a look.

Becky E.,
I live in a area of town (S. Texas) where our neighbors including myself have farm animals. I too have lots of flies and nats. They are a nuisance. The nats are harder to get rid of. So I wait about a week or 2 and they will be gone. The flies I manage by filling large clear ziplock bags (cheap ones) with water, about 1/2 full. Cinch them with string or clear line and hang. Most people do not care to have them hanging around. But it works. The bag confuses the fly. And it sends them off. Since fly sprays work. There will always be a new crew of flies. And I don't want the fly spray to harm any other crawlers like lizards, because they eat flies. Anyway good luck.

Fungal Gnats-They breed in the damp soil of your houseplants. If you let the soil dry out they will die off or you can use an insecticide to kill the adults. Try isolating your infested plants. The larvae feed on decaying matter and may damage root hairs enter roots and attack the crown or stem. You could go and get some 'sticky traps' which are colored cards with a sticky substance that attract the gnats then they get stuck on it and die. The gnat is attracted to 'white'. You might even make your own card with some sort of sticky stuff like honey or jam maybe. Hang it above the plant.

they sell fruit fly traps at hardware stores (those kinda smell though), but I think what you want is sticky traps. they're like flypaper, but scented with some pheremone or another so that the flies and gnats are attracted. I know that Gardens Alive carries them. do a search on Gardens Alive, and good luck!

Time to call Terminix or Orkin to take care of your problem for good. It's not that expensive & they will spray & sprinkle, & after one initial visit, that should take care of the insects, but if not, call them back & they won't charge you for a follow up visit. They will also spray outdoors. Make sure your kitchen sink is free of food, as gnats like to dine there.

Somewhere if you have youe windows open, there is a hole in your screen., not a huge one but big enough. First fix the whole. And you prob. don't have gnats but young flies. House flies only live a few days and their only purpose is to breed and they breed fast.
