In a straight forward race you would be in second place The person you passed would now be third.

Well that depends what position you were in before you passed him..it could very well be a car that is a lap or more down passing them .

Assuming you were it third prior to the pass you will be in second.
Just remember second place is the first loser.

Depends if you are on the same lap or you could be lapping them or they could already have lapped you. All things being equal, second place.

2nd place....but i bet you want us to say 1st place...although it could be first place if you were 1st place to begin with and was lapping the person in second place
