What MP3 player is most reliable? Experienced users only, please.?

I am in the market to purchase an MP3 player for Father's Day. I need something that will store at least 1GB and an FM tuner would be nice too. It is mostly gonna be used to link up to the stereo in my hubby's truck so I don't really need it to have an arm band or anything.

I'm looking at a SanDisk right now but I have heard a few negative things about it. I already know I DO NOT want an iPod because I have a broken one already.

Any other brands you recommend?

actually i recommend that you should go get sansa. i bought sansa like 2 years ago and now i already have an ipod but my sansa is still in good condition right now.

Also, it has a fm/am tuner, it has a voice recorder and its more simpler to install music unlike ipod and lastly its cheaper that other mp3 player.

Personally...I prefer iPod. But that's me, and your post says you're not looking for those, so scratch that...

For Christmas, I bought my sister and brother both a 1GB SanDisk Flash MP3 player. For them - it works well and my 5 year-old niece hasn't managed to break my sister's yet, that's definitely worth mentioning. Both of my siblings aren't very computer literate, but they're able to operate the device (and even update it!) completely by themselves. It offers 1GB of storage, an FM tuner and a cute blue backlight so you can see what you're listening to in the dark.

Other than that, I have friends that have bought the older and newer MP3 models from Creative. They're nice and just as easy to use as an iPod. Durability seems to be good too - a couple of my friends have models from a few years ago and they're still running just fine.

    Hope this helps!

I sell and use mp3 and mp4 players all the time 1gb is ok but maye 2 Gb would be better depending if your going to have music and video files. They have excellent ones at http://www.mp4direct.org/ use the china mp3 link these are the best value for money and have the function you require and more they also have built in rechargable battery. Worth looking at any way.

    IPOD

I had the third generation model for three years before it crapped out. most of the time it was my primary music device (I hooked it straight to my amp since my head unit got stolen out of my car) and for those years I worked construction and brought it to work with me everyday.

So sand, dirt, sweat, and no protective holder couldn't kill it. What killed it was me ripping out the power cord by accident and messing up the port.
