How Serious Is The Honeybee's Sudden Colony Collapse Disorder?

According to this graph, if all the honeybees dies off, except for those "grown" in farms to pollinate, we would lose pretty much all of the almond, apple, and blueberry crop, and take hits in other areas. Also, I assume honey would all but disappear.

http://www.celsias.com/blog/2007/03/15/bee-colony-...

Other than having no almonds, apples, blueberries, or honey to eat (which is a bog problem in itself) when other problems would arise if the cause of Sudden Colony Collapse is not found and fixed?

Also, if anybody has a personal opinion or educated guess as to what's causing it, please feel free to share.

Actually, I believe the answer to this mystery has already been found although the beekeeping industry is so far unwilling to hear it. Organic beekeepers have reported no instances of the syndrome whatsoever. Furthermore, observation of "feral" honeybees indicates that this is not happening to wild colonies either. Whatever it is, CCD is apparently only a disease of large-scale commercial beekeeping.....

How serious is it? Well it's not good, but unless it combines with other factors, it won't deal a fatal blow to either the agricultural sector or the food supply. I do not say this to discount the problem; it is by no means impossible that CCD may converge with other threats to generate a severe food shortage.

If you want to worry about something, investigate the connection between fossil fuel consumption and modern agriculture. Ten calories of fossil fuel energy are being expended for every calorie of food produced today. The implications of this (see below) are extremely disquieting....

This Australian web site has many links for additional information. Many bee keepers are hired to take their hives to pollinate crops since the habitat and viability of wild bees are under environmental attack.

We would actually lose all of our flowers and produce, as bees pollinate basically everything that we grow.
