Someone brought me a Laptop with a locked harddrive. Anyone know how to unlock it?
It appears that the hard drive got locked via the IDE password security feature, rendering it useless unless the password(s) are entered in. the drive itself is a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 80GB. Everything I read basically points to get a new drive.

mmm i wonder again why its locked. seems a it suspicious to me is it stolen by any chance

that's a common problem happens to many people
if ur HDD is still in warranty ask for a replace
if it's not you will have to get another

yup id say thats the best choice.....unless you some how crack the password......
