awww welcome to the club!!! sleep on your back, avoid putting pressure on your face. foods i could eat were hot dogs, oatmeal, pudding soft things. and cut things up in bite size pieces. dont worry, a bit awkward having braces at first, but just imagine the feeling of little rocks in your mouth- thats wat my orthodontist told me when i first got them. but dont worry- ive had mine for three yrs so im guessing and estimating, but in about a week you wont even know they're there. i was told to take ibuprofen (dunno if its spelled right) but it reduces pain and swelling.

Well, when I got my braces my teeth hurt really bad for about 2 days. I stuck with a liquid diet - chicken broth, juices, drinks, etc. and after a few days I was back to solids. It sucks I know but just take some tylenol, eat some jello and you'll be feeling better in no time. :)

When i first got braces they didnt bother me much. But when i get them tightened, it hurts. For me, an ibiprofen is enough to take the pain away. Im not especially careful about eating soft foods, but i steer clear of very hard foods like carrots. I find it helps if you rip or cut your food in little piece because biting of a chunk of snackage is usually the most painful part.

Good luck and dont worry, the pain wont last long and will be worth it when you have a dashingly straight smile!

Sorry, I know it sucks. The pain's just for a few days, I have braces too! You really can't stop the pain, but make sure you drink liquids, and try not to eat as much solid food as you can. If you do, take small bites, and make sure it's not rock candy or whatever. :]

To help reduce pain, it always best to take some tylenol or any kind of pain med before and after they tighten your braces. But for now, tylenol will help.

This happens as all your teeth are under sudden pressure, but don't worry as the pain goes away completely in about a week. Meanwhile, you may consider taking some pain relievers.

tylenol with codeine or vicodin is usually what they give out. advil might help but if u are in a lot of pain i would call the dnetist for something a lot stronger...the strong stuff will make you drowsy though, but it helps alot. i had dnetal surgery and i was given vicodin and i slept a lot...but i needed the rest so i rested and felt better in a few days.

Try to due something that will take your mind off the pain like playing outside or play video games. Tomorrow will be a better day.

When I got braces and before each time when they adjusted them, I relied on Tylenol and it seemed to do the trick. Don't worry, it is temporary pain.

i have been through this. The pain may seem unbearable at times but it will go away in a few days. You should eat lots of ice cream or ice pops as well as yogurt. They are chewable and may help numb the pain temperate.

Take an aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil. That will help get rid of the hurt. You also might rinse your mouth with warm salt water.
