OMG, another Nascar inconsistency, will it ever end?

A small piece of rubber up against the wall and throw a caution, definitely not the groove, what gives?

Update:

well if it got out in the way it would have meant a cars tire got there and would have been a wreck so it was a stupid caution.

Update 2:

number 1 Kiasister it was not a stupid question and if you followed the sport that close you would know of the inconsistency of Nascar throwing the damn caution and I don't give a crap about your points.

The only reason that is inconsistent is because there actually WAS debris on the track!

The caution was warranted and a caution period in NASCAR has always been a minimum of 3 laps.

NASCAR allows unlimited pitting under caution, however by rule, Pit Road remains closed until all cars have taken the caution and the Pace Car picks up the leader, allowing for proper scoring.

    1 Lap

Anyone on the lead lap can choose to pit next time by.

    2 Laps

Since lappers are not allowed to pit with the leaders they can choose to come down pit road the next time by.

    3 Laps

Cars are scored and positioned after the pit sequencing.

    4 Laps

    Going Green next time by!

    5 Laps

Throwing in a generous helping of cleaning the track after a major crash or oil dump just adds to the total required under NASCAR rules.

Depending on what the crew chiefs decide to do under caution as far as pitting or staying out, and it's their choice, can invert the field and add to the challenge of racing in NASCAR.

Suddenly a fast car is now behind. Oh well, that's racin' or at least it will be!

Ah, you gotta call a caution, the thing that pisses me off is the cautions last 6 laps. You get a guy out there pick it up and go racing, takes 2 laps at most. They do this on the road courses they run also, a guy spins, and instead of a local yellow, its a full course and its 4 laps when they could be under local yellow.

edit: its not stupid, these cars are running around this track at 180 mph, there is so much wind, it could easily pick it up and move it into the middle of the track.

I do not think that there well ever be exact consistency. Although NASCAR officials follow from race to race. They feel different pressures for different tracks and what the concerns are for that track. NASCAR is now more corporate than ever and believe this a dollar sign is their up-most concern.

Are you kidding me, of course they threw a caution for debris. IF not then it could get on the track and cause more problems.

It had to have been causeing some sort of danger to the drivers. It being a lose peice of debris... even just a peice of rubber can cause hell at 200 mph

I haven't seen Mary D post an intelligent answer yet. I think she's frustrated.

Guess they thought some Chevy driver might run over it and hurt their little car. Crybabies!
