cacti need well drained sandy soil and full sun. Best to use a cactus potting soil. Typically cacti house plants die from over watering, if the leaves are thick and plump do not water, they need to dry out between waterings.

They need to be in indirect sunlight. They can have sun but not in the heat of the day. Also, they multiply quickly so they may need to be transplanted into a different place, A bigger pot. You can put them in the ground, but i would do it on the side of your house where not alot of sun or rain can get to it.

keep it in indirect sunlight... and make sure that you don't over water it, ( wait till the dirt gets fairly dry before watering). also make sure that there is no chance of frost when you put it outside... or it will die
