I found it under.."when pigs fly...."

Yeshiva University, a conservative Jewish institution, did not allow two lesbians to live in married student housing since it was forbidden by their faith’s teachings. The ACLU and other activist groups sued the private institution, bringing it all the way to the New York Court of Appeals.

How does someone sue an entire religion?

The ACLU's mandate is to pursue cases that involve civil liberties. Since Christian groups are the most visible, are consistently and forcefully attempting to have their religious views enshrined in law, and are the most likely to cry persecution when caught out, then it is only reasonable that they would be the most likely to lock horns with the ACLU.

i guess you just haven't figured this out yet...if the anti-religion coalition in this country whose face and power resides in groups like the ACLU can eradicate christianity, then all other religions would fall that much more easily...this is exactly the same strategy employed by beating up the biggest guy in an opposing group or killing the commanding officer of the other army. once this has been accomplished it becomes no problem to take out lesser opponents. christianity is the biggest guy, the opposing general, and that is why the ACLU goes so strongly after the church in any or all of its forms..

Real Christians don't get sued by the ACLU.

It's only the red neck brand of Christianity religion that believes in showing their theocracy down our throats and trashing the consitution who get sued.

In order for the ACLU to sue a church they would have to do something that impinges on the civil liberties of Americans. I am having trouble coming up with an example of any non-Christian church doing that and not having the government step in and take care of it without a lawsuit.

The ACLU isn't out to destroy Christianity, in fact they have taken cases fighting for a Christians right to practice their religion. Their mission is to fight to uphold the Bill of Rights. (Although they generally leave the 2nd amendment to the NRA.) I don't always agree with every case they take, but I am glad that someone is working to keep our civil liberties intact.

There are many. Usually the ACLU suits against religious organizations are against the right-wing fundamentalists--simply because it is only those cults that attempt to force their religion on others. But despite their claims, those groups and"churches" are not Christian. The likes of the "Evangelical Alliance," the "moral Majority," etc. are not only unChristian in their racism, bigotry, and dicriminatory practices, they are unpatriotic and unAmerican as well.
