About nose piercings...?
I'm thinking about getting my nose pierced. If you've had such a piercing, could you please help me on these following points of interest?
1.) Is it extremely painful (scale of 1-10, one being not at all)?
2.) Does the piercing become easily infected?
3.) Say I want to take out the stud...will the hole be terribly obvious? Will the hole heal if I leave the stud out?
4) Have people treated you differently because of your piercings?
5.) Can you tell me exactly how the piercing is done, step by step?
Even if you only answer one of these questions, you'd be helping me out about my decision to have the piercing or not.
Thanks!

First, I'd like to say I have one. I got it done at a tattoo parlor. I had wanted one since I was little, because I thought they look cool, and so I did once I was about 20. For me it actually hurt less then getting my ears pierced (I have 2 in each ear.)
It can get infected in the beginning, but just make sure to clean it every day, the same as any piercing. But I have had mine for about 4 years now and I can take my nose ring out and the hole isn't obvious. Go with a smaller gauge ring. I actually buy my nose screws from Claire's. The ones with the jewels tend to lose the jewels so I recommend the metal balls for everyday use. The hole does tend to start to close if the nose ring is left out to long. Unfortunately, I did take mine out after about 2 months because I had a bad cold, and all the wiping was irritating it. I then had to try to but it back in, which was slightly painful (ok a lot painful, alot more than the actual piercing, which took seconds to do really)
1) I'd say on a pain scale it's about a 1 or a 2. It feels like a mosquito sting with out the irritating bug bite.
2) Not really if you take care of it in the beginning. It does take a while to heal though, so I wouldn't recommend taking it out at all for at least a month or two. And don't leave it out for longer than a day for at least the first 6 months.
3) Hole won't be obvious unless you get one of those really huge things. Usually when the stud is out, the hole just looks like a big pore, that's not noticeable unless you're really close up.
4) I haven't been treated differently because I have one. Just remember that if you go on a job interview to take it out. Prospective employers do not want to see someone with a lot of metal in their face. It's usually recommended to take out any obvious piercings other than earrings. If you're worried about a hole closing, there are clear plastic spacers available that will keep the hole open, while not being to obvious. And actually most people don't notice mine at first because it is small. I would say avoid hoops, and the studs that are short with a ball on the back to hold it in place. I recommend nose screws, which have the stem with a ball/jewel which is the outside, a loop on the inside. There are also plastic ones you can get at Claire's that you can bend yourself.
5) Like I said I got it done at a tattoo parlor. It's good to get recommendations about the place to go to. Also, once you get there, you can ask if you can observe someone else getting a piercing done. Make sure the place is clean and the use a sterile technique.
So, first the guy asked where I wanted the piercing (which side of the nose, and placement- go with what ever place you feel is most comfortable for a piece of metal to be, and is the most ascetic placement). Then he cleaned the area with some alcohol. He sterilized the stud I had chosen, and the needle he was going to use to do the piercing. If you don't like needles to much, then I would recommend not to look at it to closely. Also its really good to have someone with you that can hold your hand. Then, he took the needle and stuck it into the place where we had decided to put the piercing. (this part was a little weird because while he was getting the stud ready the needle was still in my nose.) then he quickly pulled the needle out and put the stud in. He then used some pliers to bend the end that was inside my nose, so that it would stay in place (making a nose screw). Then he told me how to take care of it, and I was done.
I would say if you like the look of a nose ring, than go for it. The pain is fleeting, and you can always take it out when you no longer want it. I've never regretted getting one, but I know if I hadn't then I would always be wondering about it. Don't let anyone talk you into it or out of it. Make you're own decision, because hey it's your body. But do remember to check out the place where you get it done, if you decide to get one.
(On a side note: My mom said it was my body, I was of age, and I could fill it with as many holes as I wanted. She didn't really like that I got one, but she supported me.)
Take care. ^.^~

1. No I have several piercing and this one was probably about a 4 on the pain scale.
2. Yes, well it was always red and irritated.
3. I have taken mine out. I no longer have a hole or a scar. It remained red around the area for about a week though.
4. Yes, people had mixed feelings. Most people told me it was trashy. It was a love it or hate it type of thing.
5. The piercing is simple-- a straight needled is poped into your nose, while the needle is in your nose, the stud is immediately put in. While the needle is coming out the stud is going in. Its a fast proceedure.
Like I said though, I took mine out within 6 months. I couldn't take the constant irritaion of it. I think it looked cute however :) I hope this helps you.

The pain will depend on how much pain you can personally tolerate. Keep in mind that people tend to be over dramatic when it comes to things like this and seem to make it out to be way worse than it truly is. If you want a lip and or nose piercing, go ahead and go for it. There's honestly nothing to fear or worry about. As long as you have them done professionally and properly care for them they'll turn out just fine and you won't have any problems with them. Ignore any rude/stupid remarks you may get whether online OR in person. Some of these remarks may include - "You can't get a job if you have them", "They're gross/trashy", "They'll make you look ugly", "If your a guy you shouldn't have piercings". These are all 100% FALSE. Piercings are nothing more than forms of body art and self expression. You CAN get a job if you have piercings and they DON'T make you look any more or less atractive than you already are. Both guys AND girls can get ANY piercing they please. Piercings have NOTHING to do with your sexual orientation. Also, if your under 18... you'll need a parent/legal guardian to go with you when you have it done to sign forms/agree to what's going on. If your 18 or older, you can get them done without parental consent.

1) probably a 4
2)no not as long as you clean it every day and reading what someone else said if you dont know what it means when your body rejects a piercing its when your piercings gets like pushed out ... this is most likely with belly button, eye brow and surface piercings and it is highly unlikely to happen with a nose piercing ((my body somewhat rejected my eye brow piercing and my friends body totally rejected her belly button piercing 2 times ))
3)no you can barely see the hole at all I pierced my nose and hid it from my mom((the first time I got my nose pierced - I've had it dont 2 times)) i just took out the stud when i was around her and she never noticed...... it will close if you leave it our for hours at a time in like the first month you have the piercing
4)no not cause of my nose piercing -- but my lip and my eyebrow i've had people treat me differently
5)..... I dont rememer exactly I got my nose pierced when I was like 12 and i'm 14 now so its been 2 years but....
---first like the piercer will clean your nose with like iodine then like rubbing alcohol
---then they will put a dot on your nose with a marker and make sure that you like were the piercing will be
---then they will tell you to inhale deeply and they will begin to put the needle through and they will tell you to exhale
--- and then its done
-------------------------
-- when you get your nose pierced your eyes will water mainly the eye that is the same side as your piercing
--when you take out/put in a new stud you will probably sneeze and your eyes might water
-- I recomend gettins a nose stud NOT a ring or a nose screw... my mom got her nose pierced and she had a screw put in and she said it was painful to put in and take out and I've always used studs and I haven't had a problem
-- and to another persons answer the ring in like the middle of your nose like a bull is a septum piercing not a normal nose piercing
*I hope I was able to help*

What I did to prepare myself for the nose piercing experience was to SPEND SEVERAL HOURS ON YOUTUBE watching people getting their noses pierced. Trust me, there are PLENTY to watch! After watching it getting done 20 times or so, I felt brave enough to do to it, so it's worth a try!!
I was surprised how quickly it was done. I'm a huge weasel when it comes to pain, but I would say getting my nose pierced was about as painful as getting an injection.
If you're worried about it standing out too much and being treated differently, I'd recommend a stud (nose screw) as opposed to a ring.

not painful but did make my eyes water a little, it never got infected for me, at first it looked like a pore but the hole went away, no different treatment, i got it done like 7 years ago but they just took a hallow needle and held down my nostril and pushed the needle through then pulled it out and put in the stud good luck it really looks cute on a lot of girls but if you have a large nose this will draw attention to it

I pierced mine myself and it didnt hurt much just makes you sneeze and your eyes water. You should clean it daily with sea salt spray you can buy in any piercing shop or pick up noniodized sea salt in a health food store and mix it in warm water. if you take the stud out it will be somewhat noticable but will fade away in time. i like having my nose pierced it sure is a conversation starter.

Don't do it. nose piercings look dum. but if you really want to (I've never done it before) don't wear those big rings. They're ugly.

I heard of rings in a bull's nose and a pigs. Are you one of these?
