Did Rosie O'Donnel's meltdown deserve the attention?
She called it "nuclear Wednesday", but I think her hyperbole is making a mountain out of a molehill. All I saw in the network news recap is her making a huge wave that came back to engulf her, while stonewalling like Richard Nixon during Watergate. I don't watch the show, but Rosie is always popping up so I know who she is. Looking at her web cam posting today looks like the meltdown that began on TV is almost complete. I'd like to know if I'm off base here or if it was deserving of the coverage.

I agree that much of the stuff that makes the news isn't really news. I think the Rosie episode was part of a bigger issue which is one reason it sparked so much attention.
The bigger issue is our troups in Iraq. Most Americans have a strong opinion about the war so the standoff between Rosie and her co-host was just an embodiment of the dichotomy that exists in our country today. Rosie insinuated that Americans were the real terrorists and her co-host demanded further justification for the comment. It's a hot-button issue.
Either way, Rosie has enjoyed far more air time in her life than I would have given her if I was king of all media!

I think everyone made too much out of the entire thing. Rosie and Elizabeth are two very opinionated women. They each have a right to think whatever they wish, just like we all do. They should have both handled in a more adult manor and just respected each others different opinion and left it at that. Then Rosie would be finishing up her time on the view and left on good terms.

Rosie is a hypocritical piece of dung. Her assault on Tom Selleck and the NRA pretty much canceled her own talk show. For those that don't remember, she lured Tom onto her show with the premise of talking about his latest project and then went into a rant about guns and the NRA. Tom tried to politely change the subject but she continued. Tom turned around and pointed out that her biggest sponsor and the company that she was a spokesperson for was the largest gun distributor in the country - K-Mart. K-Mart pretty much pulled it's support and the network canceled her show after that since most big names refused to go on her show after her treatment of Tom Selleck. Let's just hope her hiatus from the airwaves last longer this time.

Rosie should be in a loonie bin!
She claims to be such a compassionate liberal, but there is not an ounce of forgiveness, or compassion in her miserable soul. She is mean, vindicative, heartless, and ignorant, and those are her good qualities.
I am happy to see that she has managed to ruin her career. I hope she totters off to oblivion.

The other woman was yapping more than Rosie, so if anyone had a meltdown it was the generic gal...

It seems the trash that smells the foulest is what the networks think we want to watch.
