My conspiracy theory concerning The Spurs?
Maybe the so-called conspiracy theory by David Stern is to tarnish the image of San Antonio Spurs by getting them calls so it would make them looked a cheap team because somehow Stern is sick and tired that team that draw low rating keeps coming back to the playoffs.
I'm just a fan of a good basketball game and sensing there are something terribly wrong behind these questionable calls. What do y'all think?
Don't get me wrong, I also used to be a fan of the Spurs. That's why I'm bringing out this issue.
If I hated the Spurs, I'd whine instead how the Refs always get the Spurs a good call.
I think everybody's mistaken with what I meant.
I'm worried that this is one of David Stern sneaky tricks to destroy the image of San Antonio Spurs.

I understand your theory but I have a couple of problems with it. First, I've seen so many bad calls in the last 3 or 4 years that I honestly don't believe you could find a pattern in them. They're just too arbitrary. I remember a game a few years ago--wish I could remember the teams--when Baveta (sp?) made a terrible call against one team. Then, during the free throws, he was chatting with the penalized coach and it looked for all the world like he said "Don't worry, I'll take care of it." Sure enough, on the next play, he made a bad call against the other team!
My second problem with your theory is simply that I don't think David Stern is smart enough to come up with it.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories. If David Stern wanted to punish the Spurs, he could be a lot more effective and direct about it. It's kind of a stretch to say that he is making the team look bad. Did Stern hip check Steve Nash? Did Stern knee people in the groin? Did Stern flop so he could get Derek Fisher tossed? Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest Spurs fan there ever was, but they only have themselves to blame if they get a bad wrap. Personally, I think the whole 'dirty image' thing is overblown. Was anybody around in the 80's when the Pistons & Knicks were playing. Now THAT was dirty play. That stuff would never be allowed today.

I can only assume you are trying to bring up game four of this current W. Conference finals...And even more specifically - the baloney ginobili flop involving D. Fisher. That was a lame call. Just like the freebie AK got 2 minutes before that - or the lack of a goal tending call Utah got away with off of Oberto's shot even earlier.
Com'on man!
That game was in no way at all even a little decided by that one call! Spurs won that game fair and square with zero assistance from the refs. What the spurs have is experience and seven guys who can contribute on both ends of the floor.
Compare that with a team like the Lakers, who have two.
Or the Wolves who have one.
Or even the Cavs who have one and 3/4 (Big Z loses a quarter for his weak shot blocking and o-rebs)
That's why the spurs kick ***.
Now then regarding the refs and the calls that piss off us the fans..................Here is the thing. Refs have to call every foul perfectly - which they do a very high percentage job of. But they also control the emotional levels of the game. If a game feels like it's getting out of hand - if the players start getting testy - the refs crank up their whistles and keep it on an even keel. It is that element of refferreeing that sometimes seems unusual to us.
If you actually believe that Stern dictates the actions of the refs in order to infleunce the outcome of games, then its not such a stretch to suggest the games themselves are rigged and that the players know the outcome of a game before hand. That the NBA is just a well guarded WWF.
It ain't. It's real competition.
One more thing - if you have been watching ball this year, you would know that there was only four teams worthy of a finals appearance. - Spurs, Suns, Mavs and Detroit. Everyone else is scrubs compared to them (this year).
Suns vs Spurs was a brilliant epic series.
Dirk choked and drug everyone else down with him.
And Detroit obviously should school those rag-tag Cavs.
Personally I would feel cheated to see anything less than a spurs - pistons finals....Wanna talk about ratings?
Can you imagine what a joke Jazz vs. Cavs would be???

There's like two ways to call the game - the season way and the playoffs way. San Antonio is physical, so they get a lot of criticism.
Just because your team gets waxed every year by the Spurs doesn't mean you have to blame the refs. Have you tried to ref a game? Get real. No team is getting the refs paid off. And David Stern is non-partisan, period.
Why can't any team be good? Your post makes it sound like a popularity contest. I'd love to see a Green Bay-Buffalo Super Bowl as much as a San Antonio-Toronto NBA final. It would turn the world upside down.

Sorry, bud...no conspiracy.
But I do wonder if the refs are up to speed with the game in general. It seems like there are too many time when the refs want to interject their authority, just to show players who is in charge. It only seems like it gets worse in the playoffs when they are under the microscope.
It was only a couple of months ago when I saw Duncan get kicked out of a game because the ref thought he was being laughed at or made fun of. Happens all around the league.
No conspiracy, but I wish something could be done so that all games were decided by the play on the court.

The most hoary, trite, cliched conspiracy theories in Rock History 1 Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain 2 Robert Plant, John Bonham, and Jimmy Page all sold their souls to Satan 3 Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison's deaths were hoaxes Some of the most ridicluous I've heard for sheer lulz Neal Peart was replaced by another Drummer for awhile in the late 70's era. The "Other Drummer" exerted a Satanic influence over Rush Ozzy and Gene Simmons had a "Gross Out" contest the involved (Among other things) ant-eating and animal head-biting off. Rod Stewart had approximately a quart of a *ahem "substance" (that comes from a male) pumped from His stomach in a ER.

Sorry, I don't believe the conspiract. I believe the Spurs have the best defense in the league, and it is very physical. Most teams today don't play much defense and are caught off guard when somebody challenges them. Everybody thinks offensive and teams that play fast are the way to go (Dallas, Phoenix), but people don't realize that you need to have a pretty good defense if you ever want a chance to win. Look at the past few champions Detroit, Miami, San Antonio. They all have pretty good defenses.

Second time in 5 minutes I've seen somebody spell SORE as "soar." What does "soar loser" mean??? When your team loses, your spirits are so high they "soar like an eagle?"
Anyway, I have given this topic so much thought, and I can't come up with anything except they have to be paid off. I can't think of any other explaination. I've seen the "they just play tough, hard defense" excuse used over and over, and that just doesn't explain why all the calls go their way! It doesn't explain why they can be allowed to knee you in the groin when they have possession, or elbow you in the face, or whatever. Since when did playing good defense allow you to break the rules? Since when did playing hard defense mean a foul committed by your opponent isn't a foul when you do the same thing?

Simply because the Spurs is a very good defensive team so that's why they are physical whenever they played.

You are just a soar loser, that is why you made this up.
Your team just can't beat the Spurs.
