look for fiat punto, old micras.. possibly a peugoet 106... ford fiesta.... they all god to learn in... but most don't come with power steering... but if your lucky you'll find one... i think its better learning with non power steerin any way... cause than you can drive any car you want to!

take advantage of information the Internet. It helps when you know what you are looking for and how much it is. Some other tips are don't buy the first day no mater how good the deal is. Trust me its not going anywhere. Try to avoid friendly conversation and even a hand shake with the dealer..their job is to make you feel like a friend but if you make it hard you blow there whole game up. On the second day call and tell them what time you want to came in but then come like an hour early with check book in hand and let them see it in your hand. If your luck the dealer will be busy, let them know you r there but don't have time to wait and leave again. Last thing as soon as they give you the price and play the we have to go talk to the manager..ask why you waisted your time talking to him in the first place. This may all sound mean but it really works. Oddly enough this was taught to me in an interrogation call and i used it on my last to cars and BMW for the wife and Chevy Tahoe for me. I made both wait it out three days and got a better price than i wanted. Good Luck

first thing to look for is an up to date log book with receipts of work done. probably better to buy private as well. it might also be worth asking the owner to have a pre AA check done as this will pick up any faults like dodgy mileage or if it was welded using 2 cars. but for £500 don't expect a lot for your money, as your insurance may cost even more. Volvos or a VW tend to have reliable engines. happy motoring. Do i win the car?

my advise would to not buy a car since you are still learning. insurance will be expensive and maintenance will be high. Your best bet is to use what you have right now. After learning to drive on that and you have saved enough money for the car, maintenance, and insurance, then by all means, buy your first car. Make sure it is used ; ) New cars only depreciate and it isn't worth the money for your first car.

Sorry, but you will be very lucky to get anything that is not a load of trouble at that price. After all that is the cost of a service for a quality car and half the cost for a Range Rover.

Babe,
Being serious now, don't bother, save all the money you can. If i could I would get rid of my car. Save the cash, get a bit of practise in on family cars. Use the money to leave this crap country and set up a business abroad in a few years.

my advice is that you should wait untill you done with learning and buy cheaper car first. used cars is better than brand new.

get someone who knows about cars to look at them for you
for that money you have to be careful because you are only going to get cars with a few months left in them
take someone with you

a fiesta, micra, metro, are all good for learning in, when you do buy a car, take someone with you who knows what they are on about, cause not everyones truthful about cars when they sell them.
