Oklahoma City is a wonderful place to live. I moved here 8 years ago and I love it.
The first great thing: Property values are so cheap compared to other cities. There are some great homes and some great areas. We've got some great historic areas around downtown Oklahoma City that are really up and coming plus we've got the largest amount of new residential construction that the city has seen in years. With everything on the market right now, you're sure to find one you'll love. You can search homes available on www.realtor.com or locally at www.mlsgateway.com.
Second great thing: OKC is really starting to commercially develop. A few years ago they started developing Brick Town in the heart of downtown. There is everything down there. Want great local mexican food? Hit Chelino's. Into country music? Try Toby Keith's Bar and Grill. An outdoorsman? We've got a Bass Pro Shop down there. If you're into live music there is The Opolis in Norman that gets some smaller big bands and there is The Conservatory in OKC. They are both sort of "hole in the wall" places where if you frequent, everyone remembers your name. Plus, you're a short drive from Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa that gets tons of big bands. If you're really into wanting to live near creature comforts (meaning tons of Starbucks, high end clothing stores, etc) check out the Edmond area. While one of the pricier areas in OKC it is also one of the nicest.
Third great thing: we have one of the top rated zoos in the country and there are so many day trips you can take on the weekends. Just south is Turner Falls. Grab a picnic basket and a swim suit and have fun. Just outside of Tulsa and a short drive on the turnpike is the Oklahoma Aquarium. We have Remington Park if you like horse races, table games and slot machines. Check out www.travelok.com for more ideas on day trips.
Finally - the best thing about OKC is the people. The people here are very kind and very polite.
Oklahoma gets a bad rap for being back water, bible belt, etc. and you're going to run into some of that stuff, but it isn't nearly as prevelant as popular US opinion would have it seem. I think that after you've been here a while, that you'll love it, too!
One last, not so great thing, be sure to buy a weather band radio. It will beep to let you know if the weather center has sent an alert for a tornado coming your way. This is especially important if you choose to live in a rural area that doesn't have community tornado sirens.
Best of luck with your move!

You will be real close to OU football. OKC also is home of the softball hall of fame, the cowboy hall of fame and the world famous horse shoe installation college
