It's just an ego thing, but why did I lose my "Top Contributor" title.?

I still have a 23% ratio, and have not been in violation of any rules that I know of. Has this ever happened to any of you? Could it just be a glich? I know I can go to the answers team, but thought I'd give people a chance to earn points instead

Update:

Hellofafunguy - have you seen my answers? Respectful, but not butt kissing by any means!

It's not about your overall ratio.

To become a Top Contributor, you must answer at least 50 questions in one particular Y!A category within 30 days and receive Best Answers on at least 10% of those answers. Also, your qualifications for being a Top Contributor are always being evaluated in the background, so keep up your efforts because even when you get the badge, it's possible to lose it if you no longer qualify.

    No idea.

I've got no idea why I got my title. I've only got 12% Best Answers. I regularly get thumbs down for my input in the section where I am Top Contributor of (Cultures & Groups), I've never had my question featured by Yahoo do with some people.

I sort of think that they give it to people who do the most on here regardless if its helpful or not. I answer a lot of questions, ask a few, vote on some. Maybe if you don't spend much time answering/asking you get it taken away.

I think its quite funny though. Me, the guy who always gets called ignorant and bigoted by the people in the category I go to, gets a Top Contributor status!

    Do you really care?

I mean honestly, most people with that high a % are just doing the buttkisser answer thing anyway, or cherrypicking.

I've never been rated a top contributor, but that's the last thing on my mind.

EDIT: Ruth, I've seen the quality of your contributions, and the buttkissing suckup thing to your con clique is DEFINITELY why your BA % is that high. Not that it's that high mind you, but that's why it's as high as it is. In fact, I looked at your BA's just before I entered this to confirm it, and lo and behold, the majority of your BAs come from answering questions from other cons looking for the cookiecutter answers. What a shock.

Whootzie, did I say YOU gave suckup answers? No, but I can give you a prime example right here. Ruth's answers are generally con cookiecutter "whee I get to use the lib dirty word" rubbish and not at all insightful, but because she cherrypicks the con questions looking for the "yes-man" kind of thing, she gets a lot of BAs from it.

They don't notify you of every little violation by which you are reported. You're only notified when they have deleted a question or answer of yours.

The most likely cause is that some people have been complaining about your posts, and even though their complains have not been enough to delete any of your questions or answers (hence, you've had no notice), it's been enough to cause your "Top Contributor" title to be removed.

If you had not been answering questions in the category you had the "top contributor" title from, it goes away. If you start answering and asking questions in the same category at the end of the week it will reappear.

I lost one of the categories I had had and once I started answering and asking questions there again, the following week it reappeared.

I've seen level 3's with TC status and level 5's without it. Let us know when you find out the way it works. LOL

Ignore the helluva guy. Obviously is talking out of his helluva butt.

My theory is that they only have a limited number of tags and they gave them all out. Now in order for someone to get a tag someone else has to lose one.

Seriously, there appears to be no rhyme nor reason to that tag. It comes and goes from week to week.

I feel your pain. I was a TC for about 4 hours... and then , oopsie, they decided I was not worthy. Boo hoo.

For me, I slipped below the required 10% ... or 12%... (whatever) for best answers. Wait overnight... it'll probably reappear overnight.

It seems to come and go for no apparent reason. Don't worry about it - I still like you - HA!
