Really bad spots.....?

I have bad spots and acne on my upper back. I don't have any any where else particuraly, apart from the odd one on my face every now and again. They don't ever seem to go away. I eat quite a healthy diet, i am a vegetarian, and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. I'm 15 are there any products or anything I can do to get rid of the spots??

If your face is pretty clear then getting acne on your back isn't down to your diet and most probably is down to your hormones or because it's harder to clean your back properly as it can be difficult to reach around to your back, and there's lots more pores on your back, so more places where it can strike! To get rid of it i'd stick to wearing loose-fitted clothes until it clears up and try not to pick at them as it'll cause the bacteria to spread and create scarring. You could give yourself a 'back facial'. Use a body scrub in the shower to get rid of the excess oil, then use a cleansing pack to unclog pores. There's a few products you could use which are meant to be really good! Neutrogena Visibly clear body Wash which costs £4.99 or Active antibacterial action shower gel which only costs £1.49 from Superdrug! You could one or both of them everyday when you wash and slo Clinique do an Anti blemish solutions back and chest spray which is meant to work great! It's quite pricey as it's about £13 but if it gets rid of your problem then it's well worth the money!! otherwise if none of these helps and the acne is really severe I'd advise you to go to the doctors for a prescription remedy. Hope this helps xx

Yes, it is probably hormonal. It may begin to appear on your face and maybe your chest in a couple of months/years as well. It happens to most of us.

If you want to clear up your acne (anywhere on your body), then follow the advice at the acne.org website. I don't have any affiliation to this website; I just know it works. It takes a few months to reach full potential so don't give up on it too early. As with anything, you will have to continue following this routine or the acne will come back pronto. Follow it everyday, however, and you will be almost completely acne free on the areas that you are using it. It is a high maintanence routine, however, that will require a good 30 minutes of your time twice a day. It works though (and I've tried everything else).

    It basically consists of this:

    1) Wash face (or other area), let dry

    2) Apply 2.5% benzoyl peroxide (a.k.a. "BP"), let dry

    3) Apply lotion, let dry

Easy, right? Its the "let dry" part that takes a long time. This is also the same concept as Proactiv, which uses a slightly stronger BP. But Proactiv is waaay more expensive and is too strong to work well. Do not get a BP stronger than 2.5%!!

The important things with this routine is to be patient! Give it a few months to let it do its thing. Do the routine everyday!

The regime doesn't require you buy anything from the site (it really only requires a gentle cleanser, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, and a lotion), but it does sell the cleanser and BP. The BP sold on this site is of excellent quality and is a really good price compared to what you can buy at Walmart, but you have to have a credit or debit card (get your parents to buy it). Don't get anything stronger than 2.5% BP if you buy at walmart!!!!

I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin lotion to control dryness that results from BP, but you might not have to worry so much about the moisturizer because you'll be using it on your back. If you use it on your face, however, your face will get flaky and you will need to use a moisturizer containing strong alpha hydroxy lotion (like Neutrogena Healthy Skin). It leaves a bit of oily residue, which you can pat dry with some tissue.

If you apply makeup, use a powder foundation and apply it with a big poofy make-up brush (often called a Kabuki brush). Liquid foundation doesn't work well with this skin care system. I recommend Cover Girl TruBlend Powder Foundation. It matches well and has excellent coverage.

Talk to your parents about this pronto. They will need to finance the products you need. And you have to be responsible about your skin if you start to develop face acne. Hopefully, this won't become an issue for you. But if it does, start the routine ASAP to avoid scarring.

Hi KB - Im 27 and going through this for a 2nd time! Damned hormones lol. The way I cleared mine up the first time (when I was about 17) I went on Dianette, contraceptive from the doctor that also had skin-clearing qualities. It worked a treat. HOwever, Im now off the pill and having the same issue and this time Im using FREEDERM. Its available from any pharmacy, over the counter, costs about £10 a tube but OMG it works so well! I highly recommend it. Dont use too many harsh cleansing products as theyll dry your skin out and make it worse, but obviously a good deep cleanse once / twice a week will really help. If youd like more info just let me know! Good luck :) xx

When i am going on a night out and on the night i have a hideous spot i use a face mask (u can make your own ones, but i buy mine in chemists etc.. for like £1) all you gotta do is clean your face with warm water, pat dry add the face mask leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off and your face will be glowing and it really dries the spots up so they dont look half as bad, and then of course apply your foundation and you will be looking fab Do this on a weekly basis Gd Luck!

I found that most of the products you can buy such as clearasil etc just end up making your skin dry and red. Your best bet is to go to the doctor hun. With the bulk of the spots being on your back, they will most likely give you some antibiotics to clear them up. An alternative is Duac gel. My doctor gave me that about 8 weeks ago now, and my skin is 99% cleared up. Obviously with getting a gel / cream, it would mean getting someone else to rub it in for you!

Being 15 is probably the key to this.....

I wouldnt say that a vegetarian diet is particularly healthy especially at your age. You need protien to grow and heal.

Keeping clean is especially important and often neglected at your age. Make sure you have a clean shirt/T shirt on everyday try to make sure your bed sheets are clean or wear clean pjamas as often as you can.

Get a hair cut, get out in the sun/fresh air a bit, get in the sea and if you have .

enough energy from your vegetarian diet go for a swim. (the salt water will do a lot of good)

Dont spend too many hours on the computor/ games console.

But in the end your never going to look healthy unless you eat properly.

    Hi,

Having bad spots and acne is a form of detox for the body. This is the body's natural form of detoxification. Our body's detox organs consist of our kidney, liver and skin. Now for you, your body might have wanted to do it through your skin.

Although creams and medication help, it is only temporally. If you want to solve it one and for all, i suggest you know more about your body condition.

I am a vegetarian as well, but it doesn't mean vegetarians are definitely healthy.

My profession is a communications manager for GSS Iridology Pte Ltd. Iridology looks into what's actually happening inside your body, through a scanning of the iris. Its a simply photo taken for the eyes, and the Iris Analyst will analyse what's happening inside your body which causes the bad spots and acnes. Most common skin problems begins from the colons, and bad inheritary genes as well.

If you got any technical questions to ask, you can email to gss_iridology@yahoo.com.sg

My friend had this problem and went to see her doctor, he prescribed antibiotics for her but you would have to consult your doc. Alternatively, there are a few products on the market like simple products or Clearasil, they are quite good but be careful with the latter if you have sensitive skin. It's probably your hormones due to your age, they may go away with time but I understand how it can affect your self-esteem. Good luck x

Acne isn't caused by a poor diet, but by hormonal changes. See your doctor and he will probably give you antibiotics such as Tetracycline, or an ointment/gel.

If your spots don't clear in about 3 months, or actually get worse, ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist. They can prescribe ROACCUTANE, which gives marvellous results
