It would have helped had you mentioned your hair color, nevertheless.....

If your hair is med brown or darker I would rethink going light blonde on my own! I once turned my hair deep orange and another time a vivid burgundy. One trying to go too blonde all at once and the other trying to go auburn.

Summer sun can fade your color just as it lightens your hair. So with light blonde color the worry will be keeping it blonde not simming pool green and keeping the roots touched up unless you get a textured cut and use the two tone head of hair to increase appearance of volume. Most lighteners are of peroxide base or similar product btw.

To keep from going orangish or pinkish, use a color just 1 or 2 shades lighter than your normal hair color. In a 6 or so weeks add the color your using to roots and add a color two shades lighter, this will take you truely blonde gradually so you can skip going pink, rust lemon yellow or orange on the way.

Some methods of extending the initial color with less fade:

    1) Wear a hat or scarf, some sort of head cover, when outdoors in sunlight

    2) Rinse chlorine from hair as soon as you get out of the swimming pool.

    3) Use moisturizing/ hydrating shampoos and conditioners

    4) Get and use a color enhancer to keep the color looking blonde without the brassy tones! If you get pinkish or orange tones in your haircolor by going too blonde too fast, in 2 to 3 wks you can try to go to that color blone again if you've kept your hair well moisturized! My sis uses sun in and other products to keep her bottled blonde looking it's sunkissed best! Me, I'm going au naturale lately!

I've found L'oreal did not last as long as others and faded prematurely. I've always used Nice and Easy Permanent color after deciding on the color, then getting hair lightened enough for that reason. I made my errors with temporary colors and lighteners.

if you get in the pool too much or if you are going to be under the sun a lot it will fade faster, it is because the pool and the sun dry up your hair and it might start looking orange. But hair color fades anyways regardless. Make sure you don't die it more than three shades lighter than you natural color. That is what the sylists say looks the best.

I would suggest buying a UV protection spray! That way the color will not dry out when you are in the sun. If your in the sun A LOT I would recommend using a blonde conditioner and/or buying a SUN-IN product that makes your hair a lighter shade of blonde so that way you dont really loose your color.

well yes peoples hair will fade faster during the months theres more sun and sun lightens your hair anyhow ...i'd say to prevent your hair fading as fast you can at fist not wash it everyday wash it every other day or what not....also use formulas made for hair treated like pantene hair treated and you can it it for blonde's...thats your best bet you don't have to use pantene but it was an example of shampoos that have hair treated formulas and i know they have it for red/brunette/ and blonde's..good luck

Sun takes a toll on your hair in the summer time. After you wash your hair use a leave in conditioner and style as usual.

It will fade if your hair now is lighter than what you are dying it. If you want it to last longer, (this sounds gross) but don't wash it, if it's oily when you dye it, it holds the dye better.

No. I dye my hair and that has no effect on it. What does effect it is if you wash it every day, then that takes out the color. To keep your color longer, wash your hair every OTHER day. And if you go swimming, wash it IMMEDIATELY after you get out of the pool, because it can turn your hair green.
