Fred Thompson, why do people find him a?

viable candidate for President. I understand that he is a lawyer and has been in politics, but why do I see a number of people saying he is the best candidate for President. Is it based on him, he really has no record other than being against Nixon in the Watergate proceedings, or is it due to the image he plays on TV. How much do you really know about him as a politician.

Update:

ne thing not to forget, this is a man who pushes for no gun controls, please take this into consideration when thinking about him as your next president.

Educate yourselves, folks. Ex Lobbyist, lawyer and actor Fred Thompson was a do nothing Senator I voted against in 1992 when he was running to take Al Gore's vacated seat and again in 1996.His homespun acting style is all he has going for him.Ever since the Kennedy-Nixon debates of 1960,people have been more concerned with style than substance.Let's not fall into that trap ever again!

What the American people want is change and reform. Thompson doesn't represent anyone of these. As a matter of fact, I heard on NPR today that Karl Rove's assistant may be working for Thompson on his campaign. This is far from change. This is more of the same bogus Bush policies that are harming this country. He's another Cheney only taller.

Besides, Thompson is an arrogant S.O.B that we don't need either. I don't think he's going to do well with the American people.

He actually has considerably more experience in federal politics than any of the 3 "Major" Democratic candidates, except Clinton. And she's only got a few months' more than he does.

Well, he was also a US Senator (like: H Clinton, Obama, McCain, Kerry, Edwards, etc.). Many people like him because he doesn't seem as lustful for power as the other candidates. He was in politics but then moved on to other things.

His speeches seem down to earth and full of common sense responses to the problems facing our nation. Common sense is something that so many politicians seem to lack and I believe that is one reason so many people are excited about a Fred Thompson candidacy..

Fred Thompson is one helluva a good man. I lived in Tennessee for a time and he is loved by many. I don't know alot about him personally, but what I do know is that he is an honest, hardworking man who loves his country. He is smart - compassionate - and a good candidate. I am looking forward to hearing more from him.

Don't write him off yet - learn more about him.

He fills in for Paul Harvey on the radio and expresses some views there. I like him. He seems very down to earth. Very real. All the others except Rudy seem like they're putting on some show.

Non gun control ? He's definitley got my vote.

Do you work for the Clintons or something ?

Fred Thompson was a Senator from Tennessee for two terms, and is a solid conservative who will appeal to the base of the Republican party. He is also an actor; but so was Ronald Reagan.

Fred Thompson, is an actor on TV. Most conservatives think the fantasy of television is actually reality. That is also why they watch Fox News.

He's the only one with an scarier scowl than Cheney.

Conservatives have to be kept in line and that ugly mug is just the thing to do it.

    Vote for joylessness in 2008!!

Have you seen the field of Republican candidates? Losers and Bush wannabes. No wonder they like someone who isn't even in the race yet.
