Which gold club set is the most bang for the buck?
I'm just starting to get into golfing and love it. All my other golfin buddies have their club sets and do-dads but me......I'm stuck renting a set everywhere I go. So my question is what golf club set should I get under a $300 (maybe $350) budget? I've already gone online and mostly see Golden Bear and Ram sets for under $300 (good brands?). My other question is should I get the set with the bag? Or get a set and get my own cheaper bag to hold my clubs later? Anything will help, Thanks

Rockbottomgolf.com has the best prices i have seen, i recently ordered a set of adams a1 idea irons for $200. These used to retail for a lot more. They are very forgving and they also have hyrbid 3 and 4 irons making them easier to hit than regular irons. Check golfreview.com and you can look up different ratings for different clubs. The adams scored really high, you can also get a nice mcgreggor putter for $35 and an adams driver for $50 at rockbottomgolf, putting you at $285, plus you can get a set of wilson fairway woods for $20, putting you a little over $300. I say just get a bag at a used store or a garge sale, because no matter how good your bag is its not going to help your game.

I started out with a brand from Wal-mart. Bag and all the clubs. Once I improved I bought an entire set of name brand clubs from a co-worker (Ping driver and 3 wood, Mizuno irons, Cleveland wedge and Titleist putter). I have since sold the irons to another co-worker, gave the putter to my dad, and invested in a set of Nikes. This occurred in a span of 4 years. I have bought 3 drivers in the last 3 years. I bought a cart bag while having a stand bag for when I walk. In those 3 years I bought another fairway wood and hybrid. The only thing I may buy in the future would be a driver. Everything else from the fairway wood down is a keeper. Don't go bananas when you first start out. It is a process.
Try Ebay!!!

You can save room in your budget for the bag (so you can go to Play it Again Sports)
they have great bags there and it doesn't matter what type you get there.
For the clubs, my dad, uncle, and cousin helps me out with what clubs are the best, so i Cannot help you there.
Sorry!
PS. i agree with the person above me. I have been playing with used Golf Clubs (I am 15 and can't afford anything else)
if you buy used ones at a Golf Store, or Play it again Sports, you can put aside the extra money and then save money and after a few years you will have more money to buy even nicer clubs!

if you only wanna spend that much, you'll be pinchin pennies
golden bear and ram are okay brands
you mite be better off going to a golf store and buyin a set of used clubs for about 200
since its your first set you'll be fine playin with used clubs. i did it for 5 years and then finally got the new clubs i have now
