Smoke coming from steering wheel......... couple questions.?
I was driving my 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, when out of no where an acrid smoke started coming out of my steering column. Now my cruise control and my turn signals don't work. What could have caused this?
What else could have been affected?
What would be the approximate repair cost?

THE PROBLEM YOU ARE HAVING IS THE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH SHORTS ITSELF OUT AT THE TURN SIGNAL CONTACTS. YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE SWITCH IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT. COST AROUND $150.00 TO $200.00 AT A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP.

I checked the Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for your car relating to an electrical short in your steering column's turn signals and did not find any. It's definitely an electrical short or overload problem, but the steering wheel will most likely have to be removed which means the repair shop will have to deactivate your airbag. If a dealer charges less than $500 for this repair, I'll be surprised.

Smoke coming from your steering column is never good. If I was you I would not drive it until I had a licensed mechanic look at it, because these things don't just fry by themselves, something caused it. Repair cost could get heavy you may consider looking around for a new car. Good luck.

Sure sounds like an electrical short of some kind to me. Cost will depend on how much has been "fried" under the column cover. This is something you should get looked at right away, in my opinion.

If i knew he was keeping contact with his ex i would confront him and tell him a whole bunch of crap till it hurts and then hit him hard where it hurts. I would tell him,"you just lost the one person you can;t live without." To tell you the truth i don't know what i'd do or how crazy i would get because what you say before the situation happens its different to what you truly do. If its happening to you, confront and make sure you give a piece of your mind, tell him what he deserves and then tell that B**** to F*** off. Hope it helps
