Is it right for kids to be getting answers to their homework on here?

So many people ask homework questions on here. Many aren't even asking for a "why" or "how", but instead just want the "right answer." Is this a healthy practice? To me, it seems to be little more than an online "solutions manual" than a resource for learning.

As a parent, would you want your son or daughter to forego the 10 to 20 minutes thinking creatively about solving a problem (along with the intrisic reward of solving it themself), or would you want them on here chugging through their homework without using any brain cells?

*grins* As a parent, I'd not be allowing my kid to do a lot of things a lot of parents allow these days. (no cell phone. no game boxes of whatever brand. no catering to bottomless appetite for electronic this n that. etc.)

regarding homework answers here...I actually included a query as to whether it was a homework assignent in an answer to one question without realizing it was in a section called "homework help" because the question was worded so strangely! LOL!

Seriously, though, giving people ideas or information here is surely no different than being the friend, grandparent, aunt or uncle, non-relative mentor, etc they might be asking face to face. That's a positive application of the net. But either just askign for the "right answer" OR just giving it is definately a problem. I guess it's up to Mom and Dad to realize they need to keep in touch with what their kids are doing online and stop it, and up to the people answering to be responsible adults and refuse to participate int he "dumbing down" of America. (Or any other country, I just happen to live in the US.)

As a parent I would say yes, I want my child to learn to solve the problem on there own. But also as a parent I want my children to be able to get help if I for some reason am unable to help them. I look at the answers here, if they pertain to what i need for my homework and yes I get the correct answer, but it also can show me as well as tell me something I did not know, so when asked the same question again I will know the answer the next time.

I don't think it's wrong for them to be asking for the answers. They might get the credit for the homework, but if they still don't know how to do it when the test comes, they'll pay for it.

And of course I would want my child to do the homework on their own, that's the point of it. But I wouldn't say there is anything wrong with getting the answers here. They'll figure out soon enough that they'll actually have to know the hows and whys if they want to get good grades.

Anyone who thinks they will be getting a 'right' answer, much less a thouroughly explained one, to most homework questions posted on here will probably get what they deserve. Try reading some of the answers posted... not many great things posted on here for answers, and usually they are conflicting, so your kid will have to sort thru the answers to find one that they THINK will be right.

each and every so often human beings decide on help understanding techniques or with a definite problem or questions. this is not continually basically laziness... yahoo solutions is an internet site for human beings to get solutions and help...homework appropriate or no longer. And in case you do no longer decide directly to answer the question...u do no longer would desire to.

I do not think its right for kids to get answers on here or from anyone I believe they should be asking how and why is this the right answer so when its time for them to be testing in the subject they will know how to get the right answer rather than fail.

    Hell it's okay

As long as they spend hours compiling various answers from various sources which are mutually conflicting, it's perfectly all right. They will need to be really creative though, if they want to be credited for the answers they recieve.

Definitely not the place for answers. How do they know the information is true. I've seen best answers chosen which are so inaccurate it makes you want to cry.

Good old fashioned research is the only answer.

I don't think so, I mean, even if they used the internet to find the right answer that would be alittle different.

That's why I like to give incorrect answers. Mwah ha ha, that'll show 'em
