check major grounds from battery to block, block to body make sure there is no corrosion split wires etc. if all looks good check power wires from battery to fuse box or boxes again look for corrosion make sure connections are tight if not in the rare case with gms on some models ive run in to the ignition switch going bad and losing voltage at times not getting enough power certain controllers in the car good luck

typical grand am, they are full of electrical gremblins, I know, I own one and mine acts crazy at times also, sometimes delay wipers work and other times they don't, sometimes the headlights go out while driving for a couple of seconds and come back on, the dash lights do the same thing, just wait until it starts eating the wheel bearings, I have replaced 6 in mine.

I have a 2001 Grand Am. Mine was an electrial recal item in the wheel hub. Had the same problem myself. Was fixed and now acts up again. Its a Pontiac.. what do you expect?

Check and see if the ground on the battery is tight. Also check to see if the ground from the battery to the frame is also tight. Sounds like it is loosing the ground.

Sounds like a bad ground cable.

Be sure to take apart both ends of both of the main battery cables and clean them.

Disconnect the pos battery cable,then put it back on,this will reprogram your computer and that should straiten it out

do you have a sun roof if so check the drain on it I have seen them plugged and do what your describing if not I would start with checking the alt.

check the computer wire hook up, also thre batterey connection,and the alternnator.and ground wires for loose or dirty connections
