Yes passing on a single lane highway is defintly alot differnt than passing on a multilane highway. If you don't think so, you've never done it. You've never stayed stuck behind somebody for 20 minutes, you've never had somebody who was going 80 speed up to 140 just because you want to pass, and then slow down to 80 again when cars are coming. It is a feat to actually pass these people. In a multilane highway there is nothing to it.

I travel hwy 11 everyday to work. I see MANY people pass me on the single lane highway. i have never done it, because it makes me nervous. It is not very safe. And you only use more gas if your are traveling at high speeds. I plan ahead for slow traffic, so i will not be late. I have been traveling this piece of hwy for 6 months now. I have seen a wreck on it almost once a week. I wish people would slow down and enjoy the breeze. Roll the windows down and turn the radio up.

A single lane highway is no different than a multi-lane highway, except that it is probably located in a more rural region due to the absence of urban traffic. Passing or being passed on a single lane highway is no different than being passed on a multi-lane highway. Feelings of victory or loss are purely subjective, and are probably directly correlated to one's ego. The average, logical person, however, most likely could care less, as long as the passing is safely executed.

No. In some instances I don't want to pass someone. For example if I'm not in a big hurry I might stay behind a big truck. He protects me from a head-on collision, and also reduces drag or wind resistance.

OMG, why does driving have to be a competition? Drivers are too competitive, that's why we have road rage. Chill out and enjoy the view.
