What's up with my quarter?

I tried to buy a Coke from a vending machine this morning, but it wouldn't accept one of my quarters. Upon closer inspection of the coin, I noticed it weighed less than the other coins, and it made an unusual clinking sound. The metal is clearly different. Is it aluminum?

It has the year 1963 on the obverse side, with the standard eagle on the reverse side. Is this rare?

Please tell me about its history!

90% silver quarter, worth $2.50. Don't know why the vending machine didn't accept it?

pre 1965 quarters are made of silver.

they should weigh slightly more than todays quarter (not enough to feel)

a 1963 quarter is worth a small amount more than face value (not sure of the acutal amount but probally 5-20 cents more depending on the condition.

its a silver quarter , the mint used to use silver in the coins back then

not exactly rare , and since its been handled and used its not going to have any real value
