I am confused?

I was born in NY but found out (when I was renewing my passport) that I was not in fact a US citizen (because my dad worked at the embassy, but was not a diplomat or anything). Does this make me an illegal immigrant??

I have been working and living here...will this fact have an negative effect on my application for adjustment of status?

You were born on US soil. That right there, automatically makes you an American citizen.

Ask an immigration attorney. You fall into a small and rare category.

I don't know, but the way poeple in this forum think ( mostly ignorant blind people ) you are ILEGALL so you must get the hell out of here. Apparently it is more important to have been born here but you can be a lazy bum and be non productive than being someone that moved here and does more good to the country
