What do you think about the continued failure of US tennis player to reach finals in world competitions?
This is exactly my point! We are a big country, with a great pool for potential athelte. Why are we falling behind much smaller countries? Why so few US tennis players in the top 10, and still they are unable to reach the final in most worldwide competition?

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Andy Roddick has reached the final of a major for four straight years.

There are only 2 US men in the top 10 -Roddick and Blake, and Serena Williams is the only woman in the top 10 this year. Roddick made it to the finals in the US Open in '06 and several ATP Master Series finals since '05. Blake won the Sydney International -ATP Tour earlier this year and also made it to the finals of the International Tennis Championship this year. Blake was also a finalist at the Pacific Life Open, Indian Wells Masters, and the Tennis Masters Cup - all ATP Series - in '06. Serena Williams won the first Grand Slam - the Austalian Open - of '07 and the Sony Ericsson Open. Although now retired, Andre Agassi reached the finals of the US Open and the Canada Masters in '05. Also recently retired, Lindsey Davenport made it to the finals of the Australian Open and Wimbleton in '05 - the winners of these 2 Grand Slams were also US women - Serena Williams won the Australian Open and Venus Williams won Wimbleton. Considering how few top 10 US players we have on the circut right now, I could hardly call it "continued failure". I think we are holding our own
