Nair.. Total Junk, Doesn't Work. What does?

I have very fair skin and very dark hair. No matter how close I shave my legs, you can always see the hair under the surface.

I know how from a distance, or to another person standing nearby, this isn't detectable. But I can see it, and I know it is there and it bothers me.

I have tried using Nair and it just will not work. I can only remove patches of hair and it doesn't seem to get anything below the surface. I always have to shave my legs after using it and even if I wait a day it just leaves them irritated.

Are there any hair removal creams that work or anything else I can try, besides waxing or using sugars? I don't want to use at home waxing kits or products like Nads. They're messy.

Update:

I've tried Veet, it also sucks.

I know exactly what you are talking about - my skin is also very fair with very dark hair and I have tried everything to remove my hair.

I know you mentioned that you are not interested in using waxing, I just wanted to tell you that I solved my problems by getting my legs and armpits waxed professionally (all together is $60.00) which I know it is more expensive than shaving but it lasts almost 6 weeks!!!! (which I love most - I used to shaved my legs daily!) ....... and I can tell that now after 2 year of waxing hair is much thinner then before.

    I hope my answer helped.

    Good luck.

I have had the same problem.

Check out Sally Hansen spa wax hair removal kit.

It's lavender scented, for sensitive skin, and microwaveable. OH YEAH,...it's only around $10 for 6.0 oz. It includes spatulas, cloth strips, and oil.

NOTHING like Nads, and really not like regular wax.

I used it on my 14 yr. old daughters brows, and was not messy or painful.

i never had problems with nair so you might not be leaving it on long enough. nair and shaving do not mix pick one or the other. i also have use veet with the bladeless razor it seemed to work well with stubborn hairs.

Source(s): i too have dark thick hair on my legs.

try waxing!!! get prewax strips -- they aren't messy..

and if u actually get good wax, it won't be messy -- u just have to wait 2 or 3 weeks before waxing...but just don't try the honey wax ****...it doesn't workXD=D

    good luck!!!
