    5280 ft = 1 mile

    3600 sec = 1 hour

    78 mph = (78 x 5280) / 3600 ft/sec = 114.4 ft/sec

    78 X 5280 / 3600 = 114.4 ft/s

    1 mile is 1760 yards or 5280 feet and 1 hour is 3600 seconds. Multiply the numerator to get feet and divide by 3600 to get per second.

    60 miles per hour is exactly 88 feet per second. Setting up a proportion,

    x/78 = 88/60

    x = 78*88/60 = 114.4 fps

    Unit analysis:

    ( 78 miles / hour ) x ( 1 hour / 60 min ) x ( 1 min / 60 sec ) x ( 5280 feet / 1 mile) = ( 114.4 feet / sec )

    5280> ft per mile

    78> mph

    60> minutes per hour

    60>seconds per minute

    5280*(multiply)78=411840

    411840/(devide)60=6864

    6864/(devide)60=114.4

    The answer is <114.4 FPS>
